People have been waiting so long for this weezy, they ended up falling in love with struggle bars weezy. lol. young heads hear his flow on tracks like welcome to the Carter, bells, Loki, peanuts, etc, and they don't know what to make of it. i guess that's what happens when your popularity spans so many generations of fans and styles.
tbh most of this album is dope so far. I love hearing that OG flow .... I don't think I heard him quite like this in a long ass time. certainly not this consistent, anyway. That flow, especially on the songs I named above, is gravelly, hungry, overflowing with wordplay. Yeah, we gotta put up with some more modern sounding shit too, as always, but the ratio of OG to modern here is kinda in favor of OG.
I feel like every Carter album he's gotta get a little bit of everything in there, lotta boxes to check, lotta rules to follow. So you really can't please everybody. but anyway, this shit is fire and I am hard to please. you know an album slaps when even a Bono guest appearance doesn't fuck it up. lmao.
