Lemme state some shit before going in: 1)I'm a weezy/lil wayne/tunechi or however the fuck you please to call my nigga wayne fan. 2) I love Em's old style and dislike most of his new shit tho I still dig his lyrics. 3) I do believe that Em has become mainstream, the most mainstream artist in the game indeed since if you take a freak outta the bunch and ask him to name a rapper he'll prolly name Shady tho the random may have had never listened to him.

You're saying Wayne's better than Em cuz he ain't mainstream or popular by saying he was underground, I'd agree if there was just a single Tha Carter album out there and a bunch of mixtapes, but nowadays Wayne has a ton of mixtapes, 4 Tha Carter albums and some other "experiments"(which are awesome IMO) like IANHB. Both Weezy and Em are mainstream on these days, want a proof? How to love, I'm into you and dirty dancer on wayne's side and Love the way you lie and some oter shit on Shady's side.
For real there's no way to know who's better musically since it depends on whose style you like the most, the only way to make a comparison is economically, and over all Shady sold more records world widely but Weezy got the biggest quantity on his 2 last "Tha Carter" series albums.

lil wayne has a catalog that runs back.
to 97 all the way up 2009. that includes classic albums.
and mixtapes. and a burst of genius. from 2004-2008.

wayne has really been one of the most consistent acts.
if you only take into account his official hiphop releases.
(i exclude rebirth[not hiphop] and ianhb[not really an album])
you have a long history of quality output, and from the prefix on,
its really been some brilliant output. eminem fizzled after two classic releases.
wayne put out classic material for yearsss.
so as great as eminem has been.
