Do you think Wayne would become a better rapper if he picked up the pen again?

Yeah I know nobody knows, but that's not my question either.

For me it would be Yes, because I know what sick brain that guy has and I think if he picked up the pen and did some time writing a verse it would be better than him standing in front of the mic thinking shit out, and now even without weed and syrup...

    Let the discussion rollll
Take it out the wrapper, sit it on the stove
Break a gram off and put it in my bitch nose
She tells me how it feels, she's numb, she's froze
Bitch! wake up and help me cook these o's
I gotta get my cake up see all I eat is dough
I'm a dangerous mothafucka watch your feets, your toes

Yes. No doubt. That way he can construct his lyrics better and use time on thinkin' what to say... Now he just say what pops up in his head, which is mostly pussy, money and bitches.

for real, wayne can put songs with subjects i he wants. if he thinks about his lyrics he can do that. but he doesnt right now, he just spits in the mic watever pops in his mind like "I go so hard, they call me go-so-hard" lol.

writing his lyrics wont change alot tbh, he does write some bars in his iphone when he thinks about something when hes not in the studio (i remember i read that some where), he just needs to think and take his time when he does a song.

Yeah I'd love if he wrote. But I can't see Wayne taking that much time with his music.

He should write his songs for his albums, but for his mixtapes I'd be cool w/ him just doing what he does now.

            Re: Do you think...

Not only does he need to write, he also needs to re-learn how to construct songs. people say "oh he's always been like that". if you listen to the carter 2 you know that's not really the case. if he continues on the path he's currently on, no way will he be mentioned in that big pac nas eminem convo. I know he has a lot of great bodies of work but he needs a couple classics, even 50 cent has a classic to his name. Sadly it's rare for a rapper to come up with a classic this deep in his/her career, but if any1 can do it, weezy can. He just has to make it a priority over the money.

I would say his best bet was drake/wayne collab cause drake would've given him concepts..but it can still happen if he improves the lyrics. I'd say he at about a 6.5/7 lyrically right now, he needs to get to 9 at least.

No way is Wayne getting to a 9/10 lyrically. He says some of the worst punchlines possible, and now in the eyes of many hip hop fans they'll never respect him. This late in his career he is what he is, not much is going to change from here on out tbh.

THIS. It's very hard to convince to many hip-hop listeners (especially underground listeners who listen to Immortal Tech, Lowkey, JMT) that Wayne has good lyrics. We all thought he was going back to his old ways with with C4, and many of us were highly dissapointed (including me) with the final outcome.

The problem happened when he became a household name (mostly from Lollipop), he became known for those types of songs. Look at the type of songs that became radio singles from Lollipop to current (excluding HTL). That's because most people know him from only those songs in which the money, cars, clothes are talked about. If he was more known for songs like Hustler Musik, Everything, and Young'n Blues, he'd probably have more respect in the underground and old school world. Most of those guys just view him as mainstream trash.

Wait a minute, I thought they said he went back to writing when he got out of jail, especially when 6 Foot 7 Foot was hot? The writing era stopped at 10,000 Bars, I don't know what year that was, I'm assuming 2001-2003 due to his voice.

But at the end of the day, it's a business. I don't think anyone in his team is really worried about his lyric content because it will still sell regardless.

                    Re: Do you think...

YES!!!!!! When I heard that he was writing while he was locked up I was freakin hyped!! He is a smart dude and some of the stuff he says off the top is amazing imagine if he actually tried to think about a whole verse, and it would lead to more subject driven verses then the stuff he drops where he jumps from money, to bitches, to money and etc. BUT then I read somewhere were he said he wasnt writing

Writing equals better lyrics 9.9999 times outta 10. So hopefully he somehow decides to start writing.

Although his latest features have been improving and the 3 songs he did on Drake's album are amazing and for the most part stay on subject so maybe he is improving

                      Re: Do you think...

I'm pretty sure that if he decided to roc wit Jay all those years ago, he'd be a completely different rapper. Whether he wrote or not. It's different bein' under someone you've been with most of your life, and someone as respected as a lyricist as Jay. It's not really his decision not to write that affects his music, it's the type of music he chooses to put out due to his popularity.

He really started changing 07-08. Though you could still tell he had it in him back then, he's completely dumbed it down now. I think he can still do it if he wants, though.

Lil Wayne, Drake, Chance the Rapper, Skooly, Rich Homie Quan, 2 Chainz.

wayne would improve so much tbh. we wouldnt get alot of wayne songs if he wrote them rather than just spitting, but i'd rather have a couple GOOD wayne songs a month, then having alot of bad ones
