Lil Wayne Did Not Invent "Bling"

Made a thread about this because I thought everybody knew about it until I noticed people on here still thinks he invented the word "Bling" as in "Bling Bling".

Well that's false because it was already used several times..

In Slick Rick's "Mona Lisa" from 88

In Jesse West's "Dolly My Baby (Remix)" from 93

Ultra Brite's toothpaste commercials said "Ultrabrite gives your mouth...[ping]...sex appeal!"

Comedian Martin Lawrence parodied the "Ultrabrite smile" by vocalizing the sound effect as both "bling-bling," and "bling-blauw."

On the television series "Martin" they use Bling Bling to describe a gaudy piece of jewelry.

In 2Pac's "Fuck Friendz" from 95-96 (Check out my - diamonds bitch everyone gonna blink (bling bling bling)

Maybe he didn't invent the actual word, but you know it was because of that song, its him who made the term popular. Imagine how much extra money he'd have if he patented the word?

Dude every invention you see in this world today, was discovered and contrived before.. the ideas were passed before through generations. The one they call The Inventor, is not necessarily the sole creator of the idea; he is just the one who made it popular and more accessible. Nothing new here...

In my eyes the inventor is not the one that makes it popular. In the other threads I posted 2 users on here thought he invented it, so no, everybody doesn't know about it and therefor I made a thread.

So your problem is who invented the word? Ok it's not Wayne. Any way, the reason people right now use this word is coz of lil wayne. I remember when I was young everybody used the word bling bling, not coz they listened to slick Rick.......ect. Coz they listened to the Wayne.
