  • Clarification on Young Money

This is for you retards that can't read a lawsuit, or anything for that matter.

Young Money LLC, Cash Money Inc and "Young Money the label" are three separate entities. Young Money LLC is 100% owned by Lil Wayne, Cash Money Inc is 100% owned by the William brothers and "Young Money the label" is a 49-51% split between Young Money LLC and Cash Money Inc for a certain amount of time. First it was a 5-year deal from 2003 to 2008, they then extended it for 5 extra years to 2013. The lawsuit doesn't say that they extended it since then, which means that Young Money LLC (Lil Wayne) should be able to take "Young Money the label" elsewhere by now.

However, he can't take Drake and Nicki Minaj because their deals with "Young Money the label" are under the 2008 extension where it's a 49-51% split between Young Money LLC and Cash Money Inc. Drake has one album left on that four-album deal and Nicki Minaj has three album left on that six-album deal.

Even if Young Money LLC (Lil Wayne) takes "Young Money the label" elsewhere, it's highly unlikely that Lil Wayne will be able to resign Drake when his deal is up because he's going to be expensive as fuck and he will probably go directly to a major himself.

    Get it?

Let me just say this too. A lot of people are wondering why they're holding back Wayne's album, and if you ask me, it's quite simple:

Wayne has a $10M per album deal which also includes 50% of his master recordings. This must be by far the worst deal in the whole music industry, Cash Money knows they won't get that money back, so they have two options: drop him from the label or pressure him into renegotiating the contract.

To put this contract in perspective: Drake will get approximately a $1.4 million advance for his next album if I read his contract correctly. Taylor Swift has one more album left with her label and industry insiders are saying that she won't get more than $7M per album when it's time to negotiate a new deal - only Adele can get more than that.

OP is a genius, far superior to any old Lil' Wayne fan. His capacity for knowledge is so far above his fellow man, that anyone who he sees as stupid is considered indeed a lower form of human being.

Anyway OP I could use this.

Can you break this down for me too?

So basically Lil Wayne won't be able to sign Nicki Minaj and Drake after he leaves Cash Money ?

Are you telling me that Drake will take less than what he's worth just to say he's loyal? Especially after having a bunch of problems with getting paid from his current deal which he quietly tried to get out of? Then you're delusional.

Drake will take the best deal available and Warner will go after him, they've already snapped up OVO Sounds. Sure he can represent Young Money without technically being signed to them, but that's not what I'm talking about here.

You're right, the judge might give Wayne that last Drake album under contract simply because Cash Money haven't been paying anyone.

I disagree man. Drake is a huge artist in physical retail stores (he sold 590,000 in physical copies alone through the first 11 weeks with NWTS) and you need a major label for that reach. He'll get a good deal, though.

Wayne has the best deal in the game. Cash Money was just stupid to offer him that much money knowing they wouldn't be able to cover their asses in the long run
