Sorry 4 The Wait 2 was downloaded 4 million times in 4 days. FWA did numbers on shitty ass Tidal.
Future does NOT have that kind of following. I'm not even saying he's not popular. He's consistent and he works hard, but so does Wayne and despite what people say, niggaz are obviously still checkin' for that man.
no one his holding artful conversations about wayne anymore, while future is very much a hot topic.
Drake and Future?s new mixtape What a Time to Be Alive, reviewed: On new full-length, Drizzy sounds like only the third most important artist.
you can find articles like this all over the internet, really taking the time to dive into futures music. his delivery, his approach, his creativity. there was just an article on future and depression..
the numbers dont matter, in 2015, future makes more sophisticated, tasteful music than wayne, and pop/art culture is very aware of that.
it doesnt matter where future got his flow from, or how many albums hes can sell.. hes at the very front of the pack along w drake and kendrick...
and someone rightly mentioned cole.. tho i think thats more commercial relevance , than art.
jay z is a complete non factor, and no one should care about hiim at all.
and young thug has probably had the best 2015, right along with drake future and wayne, in terms of art and performance.
slime season 2 is probably his biggest artistic stride hes made.. thugs making very high level music right now, and its becoming more cohesive.. hes in a dangerous zone, and the art circles have in interest in him the way they used to have w wayne..
back when the new york times was writing on wayne, and all these smarter publications not limited to hiphop... thats where thug is at right now.
personally, looking at the game right now, and waynes position. id have to say the best move on the board would be a joint tape with young thug. take kare was incredible.. masterrful song. another 12 records like that... where people can positively look at waynes music would be a huge win for him.. otherwise.. it seems like all his other moves are mostly backtracking.. or trying really hard to keep up.

i dont think so, i know more and more people that listen to both, and the ones that dont.. are being oddly religious about it. like it somehow affects your wayne fandom if you like thugs music.. which is absurd.. or even worse.. its hurting wayne personally.
but thugs had a brilliant 2015.. and theres no doubt about it.. hes making more interesting music. hes getting better beats.. his approach is more diverse.. wayne is still spitting his ass off.. but musically, i dont think theres a lot of creativity or inspiration in his circle..
like the dudes that produced fwa are all old as fuck.. it isnt a coincidence that freshest sounding track on fwa was by londonthetrack..
wayne himself is fine. hes an animal, and hes rapping so well nowadays that its always fun to listen to, but when listening to him vs thug, future, drake, ... its clearrr his music sounds way more dated. way less sophisticated.. and its not really him. lazy production is devaling his performances

But Future's place in hip hop isn't really where I was tryna lead the conversation. The topic was Wayne's popularity and power, or so I thought. And it seemed you were doubting his ability to do numbers. I was simply trying to refute that.
Lil Wayne, Drake, Chance the Rapper, Skooly, Rich Homie Quan, 2 Chainz.
