Not as big as Lollipop or How To Love, but Wayne has other hits where he's utilizing autotune.

All I’m saying is that the newer guys know how to use autotune better than Wayne right now.

Wayne’s been doing autotune way before 2015 and I can definitely hear how the newer guys are influenced by him, but they’ve explored the trend way more than Wayne has and know how to use it better, so now Wayne’s playing catchup, IMO

lol dont worry, youre 100 percent spot on. anyone who has spent time with future and thugs music knows their ability as vocalist. thug has insane range and control of his pitch, and nearly impeccable timing. he's also wayyy more free with the use of his range, he'll sustain notes and bend them, and break them, and continue on..

young thug was influenced by wayne, but wayne does not by any stretch, make or can make young thug music. hes just not that kind of performer. (tho ive mentioned before waynes in performed in snippets what thug has expanded on, would be interesting to see wayne experiment this way)

same thing w future, ultra diverse in his approach, and heavily draws upon melodies to create his flows. he'll go into super vulnerable falsettos like on the second half of throwaway, to the crazy guttural shit he does on groupies..

lol these guys are absolutely excellent right now. i cant figure out for the life of me, why this offends wayne fans. i think its a beautiful progression and a testament to wayne as a creator and a pioneer. the two most exciting artist of a new era are heavily inspired by wayne. even more impressive, is that its only a pocket of style for wayne that influenced them. on the other end of the spectrum, you have artist like kendrick and chance that are heavily influenced by wayne. wayne is just that massive. but nothing so big, is ever perfect. its unreasonable to think so, or expect it be. it only make sense that artist who come along, and focus on one particular style of wayne, would improve upon it. lol this is okay, and not a knock on wayne at all. it makes him a fucking monster, and probably the most gifted, creative rapper we've ever seen. but now in these times, when others are doing this style so well.. i think it probably benefits wayne to go back to what they cant emulate. that original, organic wayne.

no one in the world can make 'my name is' that style, that voice, that ability, is absolutely singular to wayne. its why people got excited over glory. its fresh, and in a game saturated w the autotune sound, and thats not a knock on autotune at all. i fuck w autotune weezy, as much as anything else; but as far as carving out a unique sound and space again in hiphop, i think hes got to go left of the trends. thats how he became the best,, and i thnk its something he ought to revisit again. some really organic hiphop from wayne would be really really cool in 2016.

I'm with you most of this, but brother...Stop praising abysmal talent like Future and thug. I've listened to them, and with thug I find a tone def la chuppacrabra wailing and screeching on the mic. With Future its a tolerable but repetitive tonality which is great for hits but bad for a whole album. On the latter point, thug suffers ten fold more.

I think Wayne's error with autotune use is the instrumentals and tracks he uses it on. Meaning he just doesn't know his limits sometimes.. It's a reason for his greatness too Ironically. Let's NOT forget, wayne did lollipop, got money, prom queen, me and my drank etc on autotune and did it right. He's not perfect with autotune at all, and I advocate your point that he should return to raw rap BUT when wayne HITS on autotune...bro, its magic. Literally magic from Dedication 3, not in future's ENTIRE lifetime much less thug can they produce such a lucid and yet drowned out cadence. When Wayne is good with autotune it transcends, because he IS wayne. He will bring wit, pyscho edge, and that undefinable factor to it. When he misses, it can sound very bad.

I just dont see the appeal of those two guys, and that's not as a wayne fan. As a music fan, period. Why would I hate future for no reason ? Hell, I had young thugs danny glover for a while. They just dont have the polish wayne does as an artist that's why wayne's "highs" with the instrument are stratospheric even though simultaneously his lows are bedrock deep. Wayne is just a better artist period. Doesn't that count for anything anymore ?

But I digress, I do agree Wayne should bring raw rap back to the game because he literally is the sharpest wittiest rapper in the game right now.

SIDENOTE: This tape still slaps, Idk what it is about it.

Most of the appeal is that they know how to use their voice as an instrument with the autotune and made it sound good, and they kinda carved their own niche with it in the game. Some ppl get it, others don’t, its all opinions.

Sure, no ones arguing that thug and future are better than wayne overall. thug and future have lyrics that aren’t ever touching wayne, not to mention the fact that waynes a legend.

but in terms of autotune, you have dudes who based their whole careers off of one of the many aspects of waynes career which is autotune. they basically took his autotune phase and experimented with it and made it their own. like the other guy was saying, theres no way wayne could ever make the songs that future and thug are making right now, because they evolved his style into something new which wayne never did.

wayne may be a better artist, but you’re comparing a legend who’s worked for 20 yrs to dudes who are less than 4 years into the game, is that really a fair comparison?sorry if this doesn’t make sense im high rn lol
