The perception of Wayne has always changed tho. A ton of love when he was doing his thing 04-07, a lot of hate from him being a rap sensation (happens to them all) 08-10. By 2011 Eminem had made his comeback so you had his fan base making the lil Wayne sucks memes from about 2011-2014.

By 2015 everyone had either grown tired of Wayne or felt like he lost it (D4 and IANAHB2 didn’t help). Hence why SFTW2 & FWA are just brushed off even tho there’s high level rapping.

I think everybody loves him again now because of the toll the Cash Money lawsuit took on him & people are realizing there will never be anyone like him ever again

This is an exciting time to be a Wayne fan. Since S4TW2 it's been an epic journey.

In general I see far far less Wayne hate than I have since 2008. Way more people saying they were haters because it was cool but now they appreciate him.

But also a lot of old Wayne fans just see everything post C3/C4 as inferior, because he did seem less inspired post jail, and because of that aren't even listening to what he's been coming out with lol.

Tbh people have been complaining about 'new Wayne' since 2008/2009. People will recognise over time.

More people appreciate him now from what I’ve seen in YouTube comments and random FB comment threads. I still think this bomeback is underrated. The way Wayne has managed to resurrect his career like he did with a brand new fresh sound and some what of a new image still amazes me. This man is the goat and I appreciate him and try to enjoy everything he gives us because we will never have another Legend like him again.

Tbh the main reason I’m going to the Blink 182 x Lil Wayne concert is because I truly don’t know how many tours Wayne will do and I’d like to see him perform one more time before he retires.

Honestly, pac & biggie weren’t even that great to me. Everyone says “oohhh biggie is so real blah blah blah” yet on most of his tracks he’s rapping about bitches, cars & clothes. Same shit every other rapper nowadays raps about. & pac, pac is good don’t get me wrong. But pac mainly rapped about real shit, and he died in his prime. Pac & biggie would NOT get the same love they get today if they were still alive. & I also believe if Wayne died in his prime, people would say the same. I think Wayne can be way more lyrical in 2019 than he was in 2008. Not saying he didn’t have amazing music in 2008, but looking back on 2008 Wayne is just nostalgic for everybody cause that’s the direction hip hop was going at the time. Wayne goes with the flow of hip hop. If hip hop moves in one direction, Wayne moves with it and can do it better than ANYONE. That’s why Wayne will always be the goat. You don’t hear nearly as many people praising EM as you do Wayne. That’s because EM is doing what he wants. Still doing the same flow, same style of rapping, etc. Wayne pushes it to what he thinks everyone is trying to do, and does it better.

I just wanna thank u for making this thread. I literally grew up listening to Wayne so I been there through all the eras and heard it all.
As of all the hate today.
It bothers me to no end. it just does.
They so stuck on the "old Wayne" that they don't even give him no more chances.
I don't know.
I think they really need to give him a chance.
