why is lil wayne mastering so poor?

This has been a problem for such a long time. It's just ridiculous. I'm sure a big part of it is Wayne not even listening to mastered versions of his songs.

He couldnt Get to work because he had no gas because they didnt pay him.
So he literally couldnt Get to work. they hired a new fella when that happened.

which is super fucked up, very disrespectful smh.

it feels so good to have someone on this site agree with me for once i almost just passed out. thank you so much for not making me look like a lunatic hahahah. tried to +rep you but i gotta pass some around first . also... his voice hasn't been correctly mastered on most of his own material since like D4. it's insane. it got 10x worse when SFTW2 and NC2 came out.. his voice always sounds static-y & like "above" the instrumental if that makes any sense. but yet like you said when you go listen to 99% of the songs he's featured on they all sound literally perfect.

ALSO go listen to how crisp & beautifully mixed/mastered his voice is on IANAHB2...then go listen to FWA like psycho or white girl.. his voice sounds like it's been ripped off an AM radio station then thrown over the instrumental. doesnt make sense.

Who tf would ever work for YM? It's not really surprising that they can't even get songs mastered properly, engineers probably don't trust or want to work for them.

yes the WEIGHT that is the perfect fucking way to put it oh my god. like c3/rebirth his voice was so heavy & it was like one with the instrumental. now it's like he recorded his verse in the car on his phone then they just tossed it on top of an instrumental with zero mastering/mixing whatsoever.

that's funny because the mastering engineer who did a lot of his mastering back in 09-10 is working with me for more than 4 years now and he done told me the worst story about this whole camp lol. but he passed me some mastered classic leaks I might upload them for yall
