  • Birdman Defends Lil wayne about ghost writers

Birdman, Co-founder of Cash Money Records, Defended his artist lil wayne about being scolded in the past for allegedly having other writers pen his raps.

According to birdman that Wayne's material strictly comes from
    the rapper's own mind.

"C'mon, man," Baby said when asked if Drake writes for the rapper. "Wayne don't even write, man. Honestly Wayne don't write. I don't know how he do that sh*t he do, but don't no n*gga do it for him. Wayne don't play that shit, he never did. We ain't with that sh*t. That's cheatin' to me, when you're trying to be great. When you're just an artist that wants a hot record, that's something different, but when you're trying to be great you ain't bout to let no n*gga write for you, cause you don't wanna lose none of the credit. Wayne wants to be the best to ever do it. To be the greatest ever takes your skillful thoughts, not another person's." (Ozone Magazine)
Former artist to Cash Money Records, Gillie the kid said in the past he ghost wrote for Wayne.

He did accuse Weezy of swagger-jacking, however, saying, "It's a lot of Philadelphia influence in New Orleans." There is a huge difference from just being influenced by an MC and having an MC ghostwrite for you. So the question remains, did Gillie pen some of Wayne's lyrics for Tha Carter and Tha Carter, Vol. 2? "Not for Carter 2," Gillie laughed. "I wasn't around for Tha Carter 2. Give all the credit to Lil Wayne for that. But it was a whole lot of things going down for Carter 1. Holla at your boy, Wayne." (MTV)
Then again, Last year, Rap Veteran Jaz-O said Wayne used a team of writers for his music
"Jay-Z fell off the cliff," Jaz-O said in an interview. "I don't know what happened to him and one thing I have to say, and what makes them wack, there's certain lines you just don't cross. These dudes got writers. Lil Wayne has a gang of writers. You can look at, like, okay, everybody likes him and I would like him too if I listened to mainstream radio all the time. I would like him too because that's all they play, but that's the core [audience]." ("Street Disciplez Radio")

Thats such a weak argument by birdman. What does the fact that he doesn't write have to do with someone else writing raps for him. If anything he presenting that as his argument hurts Wayne bkuz if he doesn't write he's gonna have someone else do it for him. Im not sure if Wayne is the creater of all he records, but until there's proof that he definitly does or does not, that simple minded thief birdman need to keep his mouth shut when asked about Wayne writing.

I've always wondered about wayne::drake ghostwiritng.

One that I've always had a hunch about was Nicki on "Don't Stop, Won't Stop" on DD3. Her verse sounds a lot like Wayne.

Also, any time Juelz had a good rhyme I was like "That shit can't be his." but that's just me tho.

i think wayne comes up with his own shit now, but maybe yes in the past he needed influence, like anyone else trying to become great in any area of entertainment, or sports. Sometimes though, i feel as if wayne writes for some people in his camp..

Don't see it as an issue... if an artist contributed, they're given credit. Snl wrote Prom Queen, fair enough - but everyone's seen Wayne craft his tracks. And that's what it is - a craft... and a bloody graft. Every word is considered and there for a reason.

Wayne is the one that seems to see it as an issue. He won't put it to bed. I wouldn't think any less of him. I realy am not the shocked that he may have a ghost writer but he trying to keep it on the low. Like I said I would still be a fan if he had a writer
