There's a lot I can say to you, but there's nothing that can change the opinion of a 'stan'. Illmatic is a critically acclaimed album, and is highly rated by all expert hip hop heads. It's easily one of the best albums of all-time, and it's because of it's LYRICISM and MESSAGES.
Tha Carter III is known for its sales. It is NOT critically acclaimed, and is considered to be a step down from Tha Carter II's level. It's known for it's mainstream singles and punchlines. There's no lyrical messages outside of Tie My Hands and Misunderstood.
I didn't change the topic at all. It's the same topic of lyricism and meaning that I brought up in my first post. Keep taking shots at me, I really don't care. It's music, personal opinion, personal taste. I can post all kinds of album reviews that backup this post, but you're going to post bullshit comebacks like "OMG WEEZY is the GREATEST rapper of ALL-TIME", "THA CARTER III>anything 2pac put out", "You're a Weezy hater, you need to be banned", etc. I really don't care to waste my time with your crap.
Don't get me wrong, I love Wayne. I have physical copies of all of his albums, and enjoy listening to them. He's really the one that originally got me hooked onto hip hop. However, you gotta realize not everything he touches is gold.

look at this why the hell are you talking about Illmatic and Carter 3?
were talking about the song Right Above It and it having no "message" ....again proves that this guy has no good response to me

Called it. Lame personal attack as a comeback.
You posted this if you forgot already...
are you fucking kidding me?
you listen to a song for a message?
holy motherfucking shit
Its entertainment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its something to enjoy i swear man no wonder so many people dont like wayne wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
i mean wtf? why are u looking for a message???????????????? jesus
And I mentioned Illmatic which is full of messages and Tha Carter III which almost has no messages. Mentioned that to tell that I prefer more lyrical albums and I'm obviously not the only one who does considering the reviews Illmatic has gotten compared to Tha Carter III. So to spell it out...
Lyrical songs with meaning > a song loaded with punchlines with no message
Lyrical albums with inspiration > albums loaded with mainstream singles
Illmatic (lyrical) > Tha Carter III (punchline filled, few messages)
Tha Carter II (more lyrical TCIII) > Tha Carter III (not as lyrical as TCII)
"Problems" by J. Cole (lyrical, about life situations that everyone goes through) > "Right Above It" by Lil Wayne & Drake (punchline filled, no message other than I'm richer, flyer, got more women than you...songs that not many people can relate to)
Not my fault you have no attention span and can't make those simple connections.

This is EXACTLY RIGHT, it entertainment, it its not a skit or a movie, its music, when hiphop 1st came out tell me where it says u have to tell a story. And wayne does tell stories sumtimes but u would be a SHIT BORING Artist if every song was a story and same flow, etc,

Smfh get outta here with this shit. How can you come on a Wayne fan site right after he drops a fucking sick new single and expect people to be saying anything other than how amazing the song is? Come on man

"Come on kids take out the trash do it for your dad and get some hard earned cash" <--- so you listen to a song that tells you how to do something in real life?

Like I said, it depends on the taste of the listener. Some people prefer the punchlines and mainstream hits. I prefer the lyrical stuff. No problem with that. But keep in mind, telling stories is what made Pac and Nas two of the greatest rappers of all-time. Pac is considered the greatest because so many of his songs were inspirational. So much of their stuff was powerful messages. They weren't punchline rappers. Lyricism MADE them the greatest. Of course they have some mainstream tracks as well that are fun to listen to, but the majority of their stuff sends messages. That's what separates them from Wayne.
But like I've said for the third time, it all depends on the listener's taste and what he likes to hear in the songs. I'm not trying to push my musical tastes on anyone and say you have to like what I like. The only reason I'm pointing this out is because Xclusive replied to my wanting a more lyrical track from Wayne with a post like "Who the hell wants lyrical songs? You're stupid". I have a problem with that because lyrical songs is what made hip-hop's legends who they are.

In case you missed it, I already said it's a hot track and I really can't wait for the CDQ / Dirty version. It's a sick song, I love the hook, and I'll be bumping it often when it drops in proper form. That said, it's not quite the amazing track a lot of you are making it out to be. Obviously it's the first song we've got from Wayne in a long, long time, especially for his own project instead of just a verse for someone else's mixtape or whatever, so it's definitely exciting to get something new, but it's not quite all that. JMO.
Being a fan of Lil Wayne doesn't mean you have to love every song he makes. Not everything an artist touches is gold.
