Drake To Make Joint Album With Lil Wayne | Drake | News | MTV UK
Drake has announced that he and Lil Wayne will release a joint album in the not-too-distant future.
The Miss Me star said that he and his mentor would hit the studio after the release of Wayne’s comeback album, Tha Carter IV, on which Drake also features.
“Yeah, we got it already. We've done a great song,” he revealed of their duet on the forthcoming LP. “And then we're gonna do another and another one probably.”
But the Canadian rapper said he planned to give Weezy some space until the Young Money boss’ album was out of the way. “I gotta let Carter IV do its thing because I don't want to be anywhere in the vicinity when that goes down. You wanna be out of the way when that goes down.”
Drake was keen to point out that his and Wayne’s joint album was in the works well before he learnt of Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Watch The Throne collaboration, but said he wasn’t afraid of the competition. “I just caught wind of it through the grapevine, that there’s some other album coming out with two guys rapping on it too… I don't know where they got that idea,” he joked.
As previously reported on MTV, Drake has also been in the studio with Florence and the Machine and Jamie Smith from The XX. His Take Care album is due later this year.
