Lil Wayne Has A Monster Single On The Way With A Major Group, But Who?
It's no mystery that Lil Wayne is a hit-making machine. The martian rapping MC has laced records from the likes of Mary J. Blige, to Young Jeezy, to Rick Ross to Kelly Rowland just in the few months since his release from jail. The irony is none of these records are for his much anticipated Carter IV album due in stores on June 21st.
Wayne kicked off the Carter IV campaign with the larger than life "6 Foot 7 Foot" single followed by the street record "If I Die Today (John)" featuring Rick Ross. But anyone who knows Weezy's pedigree can assume that another record is on the way pre Carter IV. According to Young Money President Mack Maine those assumptions have been confirmed.
"It's more along the lines of a 'Lollipop,' " Mack told MTV News. "People call [them] crossover records and all of that, but [it will be] just one of those [records] that will be liked by the masses."
While Mack wouldn't reveal who the guest feature will be on the untitled single, he did say that he expects the news to be leaked prior to the song's release. The YM prez also spoke on the decision to push back the album.
"He's still perfecting a few things, he's a perfectionist ... changing a few lines," Mack Maine said of Wayne's recording process. "We also have a huge record that wasn't done yet. We're in L.A. right now. We have a little studio time and it should be done probably by Monday."
