I don't understand how Super Bass, E.T., and The Lazy Song are doing so well. Those songs have been out for months before they were released as singles, so why are people deciding to buy them NOW? I thought HTL was going to make top 5 easily.

Cos they are killing radio and they didnt get exposure all those months they were out. Like the Super Bass video only dropped a couple weeks ago.

And HTL is climbing slowly, its cool.

See, that is exactly what I don't understand. If you are a fan of Super Bass, chances are you were a fan of Your Love, Right Thru Me, and Moment 4 Life, so you probably bought Pink Friday. If you are a fan of E.T., chances are you were a fan of California Gurls, Teenage Dream, and Firework, so you probably bought Teenage Dream (the album). If you are a fan of The Lazy Song, chances are you were a fan of Just the Way You Are and Grenade, so you probably bought Doo-Wops & Hooligans.

Pink Friday has sold 1,419,000 copies, so that means that 1,419,000 people already have Super Bass. Teenage Dream has sold 1,451,000 copies, so that means 1,451,000 people already have E.T.. Doo-Wops & Hooligans has sold about 1.5 million copies as well, so that means that about 1.5 million people already have The Lazy Song.

Also, in today's generation, we have SO many pirates, so I'm sure there are millions of people that already have the three songs without buying the album or the single.

Now, let's bring the conversation back to HTL. HTL currently isn't on any album so there is only one way to get it legally: purchasing the digital copy. Why are these other songs selling more than HTL? They should have faded off the charts already.

          ^I dont really know lol.

But Super Bass wasnt on Pink Friday, it was on the deluxe only on itunes or some shit so yeah.

But idk, I guess its mostly down to airplay, random people hear it on the radio, buy it, etc. i guess. but fuck idk... most people probably dont know about HTL yet.

I hope that is the case. I could sit here and tell you that I don't care about sales, but that would be a lie. Sales are pretty important in my eyes, but they are definitely less important than the quality of music. Wayne deserves a top 5 hit with this song; I still can't stop playing it and so many people can relate to it, especially women of course.

                  They have videos.

Be happy HTL is perfroming so well with alot less promotion than anything else on there. Cold Play's new song for example, climbed up then fell off.

Most of the time it goes like this:

                    -Single drops
-First 2/3 weeks the song does good on the charts
-The song drops on the charts
                    -They release the video

I don't see how having a video has much impact. The video should not determine whether or not you buy the song. You can like the video and not the song, or you can like the song and not the video. Ok, now the VIDEO can be seen on YouTube and MTV, but how does that impact the sales of the SONG?

It gives people a visual for the song and if it's a good one then it'll trigger that when you hear it and you'll associate a good visual with what you're hearing. It matters more than people think

When I hear Super Bass now I think of Nicki Minaj's ass and tits in that skin tight pink shit she had on. It's doing well now and getting a lot of airplay because of requests... With a lot due to the fact that there's a video now
