Re: Robin Thicke Reunites With Lil Wayne For "Love After War"

    its funny.
    while all these other.
rappers were trying to get that pop money.
namely ti during paper trail. wayne has never really.
had a pop act come on his records.
its always been him and robin.
    cooking some shit up.
    not him and rihanna.
    or justin timberlake.
    even though hes dope.
so id be cool with that but if you look at it.
for a long time. waynes music didnt have that pop sensibility.
it really started to show up a few times on carter 3.
especially on rebirth since thats all top 40 radio pop rock.

and now this mirrors with bruno mars.

i could really do without all this polish.
and get into some more raw soulful shit.
i think robin brings that out of him.

You act like pop's the worst thing in the world.
And Mirror is the fucking best song on C4. Period.

well when you consider its bubble gum quality.
and the fact that its the most fabricated genre.
        meaning its almost literally manufactured.
as commercially appealing as it can be.
then yeah. i have a problem with it being crossed over with hiphop.
but thats not to say that there cant be good pop music.
or good pop artist. but this isnt the case.
its rare to have a pop artist approach pop music.
with any integrity. these acts arent trying to make good pop music.
so what you have are these cross over records that are meant to spoon feed an audience.

and im not one to be spoon fed.

but see i would be down for some wayne x justin timberlake.
because jt takes his music very seriously. its why future sex / love sounds was great.

        or something like this.

quality hiphop pop records are possible.

but these records are too transparent.
its so obvious that its a reach.
        and i dont do gimmicks.

        and that makes you lame.

Isn't that the whole point of pop music? Being POPular?

Although popular music sometimes is known as "pop music", the two terms are not interchangeable. Popular music is a generic term for music of all ages that appeals to popular tastes,[5] whereas pop music usually refers to a specific musical genre.

Popular music - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

            by now.
            wayne is a pop star.
as in a star in pop culture.
this doesnt mean that he has.
to make pop music to crossover.
for more success. on the contrary.
hes so huge. that he can make.
whatever he wants and people will still.
buy into it. so then. if thats the case.
why not the absolute best hiphop.
that he can. some music that doesnt pander.
to the audience. but instead demands the most from him.

id rather listen to wayne reach for something.
than hear him trying to touch base.
with every fan in the world.
for the sake of some sales.

If it was for the sake of sales, Justin Bieber would've gotten that collaboration long ago. What do you have to say to that?

                and i think hes mentioned.
why he hasnt worked with him.
something about not wanting to fuck up.
