Took a little bit from the dictionary definition of lyrical, which fits well imo:

songlike outpouring of the poet's own thoughts and feelings, as distinguished from epic and dramatic poetry.

Wayne is less lyrical now because he kinda just spits random punchlines and verses, with no deeper meaning. Sure he did a lot of that back in the day as well, but the rhymes he used to spit were more impressive. If you single out my quote, then technically Wayne is still being lyrical, its just that his current thoughts and feelings are less intriguing than his past ones.

Wayne's been rapping for what almost 20 years...hes not gonna spit dope ass shit every song now..its 2011 not 2005 anymore

theres a part of me that gets that.
because you cant bottle inspiration and expect it to last forever.

but then i think of the older heads that are still nice.
or the dudes that sound like they can rap forever and make dope shit.

ie raekwon mos def black thought doom

and the only that separates them from wayne.
is that they stay focused on the craft and the form.
they still take their time putting together quality raps.

i dont see why wayne cant do that.

and this song really couldve been like dickpleaser part two.
that wouldve been dope.

No matter how brilliant some of Wayne's one-liners are there will always be a segment of listeners that won't define it as "lyrical" unless Wayne does enough complaining to make the listeners cry like J Cole.

Those people also havent released 200,000 songs like wayne and been featured on over 1000 songs and havent dropped a mixtape every 6 months. so yeah wayne is not going to rap perfect on every song, hes just lyrically recycling now.
