how many of them have been.
thrown together radio beats with raps over them?

verde terrace is probably the closest one.
but that sounds more like an old wayne tape than anything.
and that certainly wasnt a tape filled with mainstream production.

i totally understand that wayne works on his plane and timeline.
( another reason why we shouldnt accept less from him)
thats why he can jump on a beat like banned from tv.
and make it as fresh as any other record on no ceilings.
but we cant be okay with him making the easiest music possible.

and even though sorry for the wait had its moments.
at the end of the day, thats what it was. the most accessible music.
which i kinda forgive since he made it in two weeks but it cant become a habit.

Some wants to hear "the story teller Wayne" but from when was Wayne a story teller? He was always a punchline rapper, and every rap song he EVER released had some funny lines, but now everybody be judging him word by word. Not everybody can be perfect.

he just jumps on the beat and lays a rap on it.
the quality of the song depending on how well he rapped on it.
but before he would create songs on those beats.

that is what an invested wayne used to do.
he was inventive. now he punches in. and punches out.

i disagree with all of that.
while he isnt a conventional storyteller.
he's been without a doubt telling his own story.
his raps are damn near an autobiography.
if you can understand that then his work takes on.
another level where you can recognize who he is how he thinks. etc.

thats why to say hes only a punchline rapper.
is a really really cheap thing to say. hes always been more than that.
hes very effective with punchlines because of he uses them.
they're hardly the conclusion to anything.
they push his stream of consciousness forward.
its shows you how he extrapolates ideas and how he moves on.
to the next idea. before him punchlines werent used like that.
they were just flashy lines to show how nice and clver the rapper was.
