Still high off the release of her mixtape P.O.Y.B.L, Melody Thornton shared details on “U and I,” an unreleased track that she recorded around the time the Pussycat Dolls were making their second album.
“‘U and I’ is a song that sparked my direction, that whole Shirley Bassey, ’60s vibe,” said Melody, who recently performed the song in Russia. “I’ve had it for years, so the Western thing really was sparked by this song.”
The record features a verse from Lil Wayne. “I asked Wayne to do me a favor and he did it for me,” she revealed.
After her appearance on the British TV show “Popstar to Operastar” last year, the former Pussycat Doll has been exploring opera. “I’m singing soprano arias and Italian,” said Melody, who plans to incorporate it into her sound.
