Apart of drugs, I think Wayne might go back to weed, but I don't think he will change his rapping style or anything to that....funny how some people in here think if he smoked weed then his rapping style will just jump from D4 to C2 from nothin...acting like it is easy to make a sequel for C2..
C2 or D2 or DD3 can't be done again.....you don't see NAS doing another Illmatic, or 50 cent making another get rich or Die tryin, or Eminem doing another Eminem show...

People need to understand that Wayne realized his old C2 style wasn't getting the attention he wanted or the amount of radio time he wanted (like what he said in Shooter)... So he had to switch up his style. That's why C3 came out the way it did, but C3 Sessions was being worked on ever since C2 era, so that's why some of those songs come off as songs that could be linked to his old style.
Thing about Wayne is that... honestly, unlike people like Kanye who switched up styles maybe once or twice, Weezy switched his up multiple times, from C2 to C3 to C4, etc... It's just impossible to tell how Wayne would sound this time next year or when he's off probation. We don't know if he'll go back a couple styles or if he'll just switch styles about 4 times... We just don't know.
Like others said, it's impossible to get another D3 or C2 or something... Honestly, if he tried 100% then we could possibly get it, but that's an extremely slim chance. There's also an option of him writing his lyrics down to get something lyrical, but he doesn't like writing... He did for Dear Anne though, and that was a good song.
We just have to accept Wayne for... well, Wayne. For example, people wanted DD3 Wayne back then, but then No Ceilings released and was extremely popular and was one of his best mixtapes... but it was different from DD3. Just like how his DD3 style was different from his D2 style. He's been my favorite rapper, and no matter how much he changes styles, he'll still be my favorite rapper. He's just really entertaining and has given us a shitload of music over these past 20 years or so... Again, once off probation it's impossible to see where he'll end up with weed, syrup, drugs, etc...

But even though what you said is true, if he had never went to jail, and stayed the syrup sippin, weed smoking wayne, he most likely would have never ended up like he is now.
He might have changed into something we would have never known, but I don't think he would have been the Skating Trukfit Wayne.

Do people not realize he hasn't rapped like he did on Tha Carter II SINCE Tha Carter II? . Dedication 2 was a whole new style, by the end of the year, Lil' Weezy Ana, was a whole new style. He had 3 different styles between Dec. '05 - Dec. '06
I didn't fuck with Wayne's new style in 2009, so what did I do? I stopped checking for him and listened to his old shit. I didn't sit on forums and cry and complain
No consecutive projects from Wayne sound alike. He will always get hate.. And he always did. Ppl said DD3 was wack compared to D2
Ppl r never satisfied. I'm good w D4 Wayne, I'm never expecting him to go back cuz he never has. Chuch!
