Lil Wayne On "Carter V": "I'm Trying To Be More Careful About What I'm Saying"
"Lil Wayne explains his "older and wiser" approach to his new album.

Lil Wayne caused quite a controversy with his choice of words on Future's "Karate Chop" remix last year, causing quite an uproar with a tasteless reference to the brutal murder of Emmett Till. Whether or not it's influenced by the reaction to that particular line, Wayne is apparently trying his best to watch his mouth on his upcoming album, Tha Carter V.

In an interview with MTV, Weezy explained that his perspective has changed with age, commenting on his approach to his new album. "I say it's different, because I'm older and wiser, and I know more things and I know more about myself now," he said.

"I'm more careful about what I'm doing and trying to be more careful about what I'm saying," offered the Cash Money rapper, who now has to act as his own editor. "I knew that I had people above me or around me that was gonna make sure whatever I said or shouldn't have said or whatever I did or shouldn't have did," he said. "Well now, I'm those people, and I'm telling me what I should do and what I shouldn't say."

Despite the self-censoring, Weezy was confident that his longtime fans will be happy with the project. "It's awesome; it's coming together dope," he said. "I think the Wayne fans are gonna like it. I hope so.""

No, just means for example when he says something like "beat that pussy up..." He doesn't add something offensive next to it, and that he would be more creative on the punchlines coz he knows more stuff now...Wayne is a punchline rapper...

He's gonna say "beat the vagina up" now instead of "beat the pussy up"

I think its good news for CV. Before IANAHB2 dropped he was like "buy it. If Not then you dont" or "its bullshit" (of course it was a joke but anyways he knew that there was some truth to it. And now its "I HOPE they like it" like hes really proud of this and wanna Do it for the fans

Cool to hear, but I feel like this has been misinterpreted I think he is referring to being more careful about what he says in terms of lyrics like the Emmett Till thing and not so much being careful about what he says in terms of having more meaningful lyrics... If ya know what I mean...

But it's still progress, at least he is thinking about his shit now rather than just spitting it and not thinking about it like it feels like he been doing the last few years. Looking forward to the project but not as much if that snippet is actually C5.

                You are getting it wrong.

Lil Wayne would still say beat the pussy up, but he will just be more careful with the punchline after it.

He's not going to stop cursing

hm, this is interesting, cos i kinda felt like he was trying to go.. for some fortune cookie style rap on carter 4, with all the life is like.. lines

and the mirror song.. and the president carter...how

wayne.. isnt any good when he fabricates depth, i dont think anyone is any good when theyre fabricating, but what works for wayne best, is being authentic...

doesnt mean that he cant be mindful about what hes saying tho, so could be interesting, especially... off the heels of dedication 5.. where he pretty much says, that he says things, that he usually wouldnt say on his album..

how does he manage and filter his content during the process? whats this gonna look like.. once its in practice.

interesting tho, that he mentioned being older and wiser, its a part of the reason why i think wayne could fully rap until his 40s.. cos he has so much creative energy, and has all his views.. and what not, hes going to have to express himself, some how some way.. and if its in rap, itll be fun to see what he ends up saying in his late 30s.. early 40s...
