you cant compare the popularity of new rappers (drake, k dot) to rappers who are in the game for much more years (wayne, kanse, jay)
the new school rappers might be more popular than the 'old' rappers if you ask people who just started listening to music but definitely not if you ask people who listened a bit longer
and you can say em, jay, kanye and wayne are pretty much equal popular

BUT, this doesn't mean Kendrick isn't a dope rapper but I'm unsure if he got the scalability that rappers like Drake, Wayne, Kanye etc., have.

I reckon right now in hip hop in America it goes Kanye, Drake, Jay, Em, Kendrick, Wayne, Nicki. I don't think I've left any names off that list.

Worldwide, as everyone said, is different. In Aus, Jay is nowhere near as big as Kanye or Eminem, those are the main two superstars. Drake is playing stadiums too. It's very unlikely Wayne could sell out a stadium by himself, but Eminem and Kanye easily could.
