Didn't think it was a bad idea, but I knew for sure ill never pay a monthly payment for music lol...and the company had already changed CEO's 2 times now...plus when Madonna (who is a partner) released that Bitch im madoona video as an exclusive in Tidal...the next day she had to release it to VEVO coz her fans got mad about them having to pay to watch her video...

People don't want the pay for shit like music videos that have always been free to watch....either its exclusive or not.

not enough people in the world find it okay to pay for rich people to get richer for shit that has been free before...(like music videos)

plus Wayne has always been talking about FWA being a free album, now he's releasing it to Tidal, so in other words not really free

still gonna be free to me tho...lol
true man, of course it's gonna fail unless they change some shit, and not CEOs..just make it like iTunes and give bigger percent to artists if they really wanna do IT cuz of artists..

i never paid for any music, why would i give money to some dude that even without me has million times more money than I do?
        to support him?
that dude doesnt need my support, he should support me, lol

In Wayne instance, I get him and I get why he is doing it through TIDAL, he doesn't want to label FWA as mixtape (if he dropped it for free like mixtapes) and there is just no other way for him to legally release an album, unless it goes through TIDAL, and plus he probably does need money, cuz he isn't unlimited source of money, so of course he wants some profit as well..

should have never said that it was a free album tho, call it free weezy, but dont say its free when you know it cant be free

Why not? Pay 10 bucks a month and get access to all the music you could ever want. Whats wrong with that?

TiDal give 70% to the artists, the biggest percentage of all the streaming services. Pretty sure iTunes give the exact same percentage.

It's good that you get music for free. Hopefully, if everyone does it, then your favourite artists wont even have enough money to make music anymore..

            SMH

Why do you buy an iphone when apple has more money than you? Just steal it right? Go up to a rich guy and rob him for his phone. Fuck that rich guy, he has more money than me he doesnt need his phone, I need his phone.

Then TIDAL should give 80% and be like iTunes but better for artists.

Wow, you really think that if no one bought the albums they wouldn't have any money?
Most of the money they earn aren't from buying a 10$ album, thats why you see some low-selling artist that have millions in a bank. Don't be naive. They earn money from multiple business ventures, and ads, they get money just putting a music video on youtube, they get money from everything.

And 1 man can't change the world, and 1 man can't change the fact that someone is a multi-millionaire.
10 men can't change it either, neither can 1000, and it's very unlikely that everyone just stops buying albums, cuz there are always people like you, that would rather spend 15$ on a plastic disc (nowadays its just digital), than give it to a homeless person, or do something that is actually good.

I don't buy iPhone, I don't have iPhone, it's useless to have such an expensive device, because any other phone does exactly the same, you can call, you can text.

And no one is talking about stealing. You are plain stupid if you think downloading music for free is stealing, if anything it's helping the artists, and there are many artists that support "piracy".

1 million people downloads an album for free, they find out its a great album, half of them will buy it to support the artist because he gave them joy, the other half will go on internet and praise the album thus affecting even more people to go and buy the album..

              You know nothing djorkaeff.

Tbh I agree with you anyway I just don't like it when people slate tidal for trying to help the artists when they've been fucked over so many times.

Album sales don't make money for artists anyway, they make money for labels. The problem is that because labels aren't making as much money, they aren't signing as many artists, and the ones they do sign aren't getting decent deals. I mean Young buck got paid $700k for an album he didn't even make! In the mid 2000s. Now a million dollar deal is not even possible, because of the downloading era.

If you think people not buying records doesn't have a run on effect you are wrong. It may not impact artists directly via the amount they get from sales, although it does the really big artists like Jay z and Eminem, it changes the whole dynamic of the music industry.

Piracy has helped thousands of artists gain a fan base they never would have had, and allows them to play shows in,locations they never would have dreamed of.

Artists derided piracy need to thing a little harder about why they play to 5000 people in Sydney, cause 20 years ago it wouldn't have happened

I'm not denying TIDAL is nice way to help artists, but I don't think they are doing it the right way..

But labels are signing a lot of artists? Nowadays everyone is a rapper, everyone is putting out albums and songs..
About decent deals, I think they are getting much better deals than they should get. Wayne should never have 150 million dollars in his pocket because he made music, people that have real jobs, jobs that people don't wanna do should earn that much, and then the world would change and this place would be a better place to live..

And that Young Buck dude should have never got 700k$, and if nowadays artists get less money than that? Then thats the way its supposed to be.. and artists do get similar amount of money, maybe not the same because dollar and economy is far different now than it was in 2000..

It does, I know it does, but it isn't that big of an effect. They are still getting way more money than they deserve.
Everyone still wants to be a rapper, everyone still wants to put out songs, even tho people are now pirating more than ever, so I don't really see that big of a change.

And yes, like I said, piracy did help and is still helping..

the world is a place of contradictions. people get paid to do less. You're missing the value in entertainment. People dont like to work, they like to be entertained. music entertains them, and so people place a huge value on that, whether the artist works hard to deserve it or not.
