  • Nas Names Lil Wayne Top 5 Of New Generation.....Drake Ties Wayne's Hot 100 Record

Despite naming his album "Hip Hop Is Dead" ten years back, Nas is still listening to current rap.

Nas recently celebrated the 10 year anniversary of his album Hip Hop Is Dead. He joined Revolt's Andre Harrell to talk about the genre a decade after he made the statement, at one point going over the emcees he's paying attention to at this very moment. Off the top of his head, Nas names five of his favorite rappers from the "new generation."

Anyone who remembers Lil Wayne's insanely productive late-00s stretch won't be surprised that the rapper holds a record for most Billboard Hot 100 entries by a solo artist. At the same time, anyone following Drake's last few years of dominance won't be surprised to hear that he's now tied his friend and collaborator's record.

According to Billboard, Drake's appearance on Gucci Mane's The Return Of East Atlanta Santa single "Both" marks his 132nd entry into the Hot 100 chart, with the song debuting at 41 this week.

Lil Wayne's record is currently 132, so Drake's most recent placement puts them in stiff competition. Of course, the way the charts work is constantly changing, and the addition of streams to the way the Hot 100 is determined has worked in Drake's favor. The fact that many of Wayne's well-known mixtape tracks were released on free projects and not considered for the chart.

Whichever way you look at it, both Wayne and Drake have dominated the rap game in significant ways over the last decade, and you don't need to check the numbers to know that.
