i dont understand how this man thinks sitting and waiting to put out music is a good idea?

in this day and age with people, mindspans are so short, if you're not releasing new stuff constantly you're going to be left in the dust/past, sitting on music is not helping his situation at all, fucking idiot

people aren't going to sit around and wait however long for wayne to release new music because 1, hes not poppin as much as he used to be, and 2 lets be honest his output has been pretty inconsistent/subpar for 2017 so far....so sitting and waiting to release music is the last thing they should be doing

so after spending so much money on beats, studio time, engineer, etc. putting projects out for free would only make his financial situation even worse. Why do you think jay z can drop an album whenever he wants? Cause he has a vault filled with unreleased music. Some of the songs from his last solo album were a solid 4 years old
do a mixtape than, that part about making money i get, the man needs to make money, but at the end of the day, if he's not putting out material, people are going to start to move on and forget about him, that's just the reality of it

besides, new guys are dropping mixtapes with all original music, that mean they losing money? not necessarily, if those songs chart he makes money, and like you said with jay, wayne probably has double the amount of music he has in the vault, release some of your older songs to get people looking at you again, and hopefully they chart

I forgot how many streams equate to a single sale/1 album sale but long story short you can get paid through streaming (which wayne cannot do because of this lawsuit). He's trying to get all the rights to his music before putting it out for free. Imagine dropping c3 session gems for free rather than getting the lawsuit out the way and putting it on a proper album. Artists gotta eat and he's only making show money right now. He's also relying on young money sports and the other bhsinsss ventures he's attempting to get into

tez's management company also manages nicki, t.i, The Weeknd, etc. Therefore they aren't total scrubs as far as marketing goes

depends on how the song is released, for instance, stoner and check by young thug both charted before they went on sale on itunes, and that was before streaming, it was mostly from music video views,, nicki minaj did the same thing with anaconda, off music video views alone it shot to number 2 on hot 100 (not for the music but still), there are ways to get songs to chart and out there without technically releasing it as a single to buy or stream, its just that streaming has become so big now thats the popular method, while older methods may not work as successfully.

Tez's management company also merged with the company who managed kanye if i heard correctly, and also a good management brand/company doesn't necessarily mean the manager will be good, its all how the manager as an individual does things and handles bookings or whatever it be, which i believe tez isn't doing the best job atm, or hasn't been for a while now

They can pull the plug on anything wayne wants to do aside from unofficial tours.

As good as music for the fans sounds, from a business standpoint it's suicide. I still think when this situations resolved Wayne's music will still sell. The biggest question is, is it quality music. Cause if it's not then it won't
This is true ya, they pull the plug he can't do shit, just a fucked up situation smh, the only thing I'm concerned with is that without the music people will move on, especially if the stuff we do get is subpar on features or the random song he'll drop....you hear literally no one talking about wayne now, and it'll only get worse the longer this situation goes on for.

What if he announces a full out retirement does he still owe the label the albums or can he be like some athletes and just kind of do it (I know most do it in free agency but I think some have done it while on contract).

Also, joe budden said wayne could change his stage name and that will get him out because it worked for prince, wonder if it'd work for him

just on that new guys are dropping original song mix tapes. Those dudes are trying to come up and make it in the mainstream. They need to be putting out good free music so people will actually listen.

Do a mixtape with all original music. He can tour off that, and he'll have new music out that people can listen to.

Most rappers make money off touring for the most part anyway. The only problem is nowadays mixtapes are released on streaming platforms and he won' be able to do that so that might hurt him.
