Lil Wayne has finally had enough of Birdman cashing checks off his hard work, and either wants the Young Money music label handled properly or shut down completely.
Wayne filed documents demanding that the court either “appoint a receiver to supervise the operations of Young Money Label joint venture or order the termination of Young Money Label joint venture and appoint a liquidator.”
Weezy originally sued Birdman’s Cash Money Records, claiming the music exec owed him tens of millions of dollars, including an $8 million advance for “Tha Carter V.”
Birdman has already responded to the demand, claiming Wayne has no right to shut down the label while the rapper is still under contract with the company.
Young Money was launched as a joint venture between Wayne and Cash Money in 2003. Wayne feels like he’s brought in tons of talent to the label, including Drake and Nicki Minaj, but claims Birdman financially screwed him over.
Birdman makes it clear, nobody should be appointed to take over or dissolve Young Money.
This shit is just sad, and it's crazy. As smart as Wayne seems, you'd think he'd figure a way out of this. But among former label mates to now, it's like Pac & Suge Knight's situations. The older guys / CEO's screwing the artists who builds the label.
I do hope this gets resolved or Wayne gains more control over his creations/influences/works.
Also Wayne was one of the greatest emcees/rappers of our time and we all witnessing his struggle and downfall from substance abuse, legal issues with labels (business), etc.. many younger cats took his accomplishments and style, running with it like Drake & Nicki who no longer needs him or YMCMB. Like G-Unit & Deathrow.. ALL groups and labels damn near crumble due to corruption, greed, ignorance.. (low vibrations).
We are witnessing the death of an icon/idol...(Celebrities are false idols)..
Pac & Prodigy warned us about this shit numerous times. This splits mainstream from underground & real from fake. Fans and Artists.
Real fans will always support the real and opposites do the opposites.
