It pains me that they perfected the autotune for his voice back then but changed it up to whatever high pitched shrillness it is now.

But i dont get it tho. Some verses from this year sounds so fkin good like old Wayne and some make your ears bleed, maybe it's wayne or engineer. I just don't get it.

Yeah it all comes down to who's engineering and mixing his stuff. Some of these engineers actually take time to manually level the vocals while some just slap a limiter on them and say fuck it. Same goes for Autotune as well, some engineers will actually manually fix the vocal key throughout the verse and some just crank it up to max and hope the program will sort it out itself. That's why some Autotune sounds great and others sound robotic and squeaky.

Exactlyyyyyy. Depends on the engineer completely. Also if they are competent enough to set the autotune in the right key from the beginning so the auto tune can snap to the right key. Then if there is anything that sticks out the engineer can go back and manually fix those parts. I love me some autotune when it’s done right!
