I can understand what Wayne was trying to say but I think he is still off base. I know some of ya'll are in other countries but in the US there is, in fact, a "whole force" behind racism. There are a million ways people and organizations can be racist without it being as obvious or intentional as the KKK. Wayne is cut off from this reality. His comments undermine the experiences of most black people and also clear data supporting the fact that black people are disproportionately likely to lose out or be harmed in a wide variety of interactions, whether with police, at work, with doctors when trying to receive healthcare, etc. That certain policing practices are inherently discriminatory. That certain aspects of our criminal justice, social, educational and healthcare systems are literally stacked against black people.
Also, social media and protests have been enormously influential in pressuring the authorities to do the right thing whenever incidents like this happen. There are also tons of black people engaged in really meaningful long term work to correct these issues including working to defund the police and invest in community driven solutions to safety. His comments diminish the seriousness with which people take this issue. Did you know policing and prisons in America are for-profit? And of course our prisons disproportionately house black people because our laws are written and enforced in discriminatory fashion, our court system, juries & judges are more likely to impose harsh penalties on black people, etc. It's all systemic and connected and really fucked up, goes way beyond overt racism. Honestly modern day socially sanctioned lynching & slavery. He needs to acknowledge that part.

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
Then they go ahead and make all sorts of normal shit illegal for black people (Jim Crow laws, segregation) and start painting them as dangerous criminals in movies. Civil Rights movement comes and does some good, 3 years later Nixon starts the war on drugs and they start arresting black people at a higher rate than white people even though they use drugs at the same rate. (After Nixon died his policy adviser admitted that the War on Drugs was started to incarcerate the anti war movement and black people)
Today u have people in prison for life slaving away for companies just because they got caught 3 times with weed for personal use. (3 Strikes, if u don't know, get educated)
It's not that hard to get educated on this issue, especially if u live in America. I know u already know but too many people seem to be completely ignorant on this issue.
