Re: New York Times on Lil Wayne

I did not like this article at all. I mean, at first glance it looks like it's a positive one, glorifiying Wayne and his many talents. Embedded in it, though, are a few scathing comments concerning his voice, the 'failure' of Rebirth and the desperation of needing to make a come-back while in prison- and the suggestion that he will fail.

To be honest, i think it's a bad article. It's well-written and coherent, naturally, but the author can't seem to make his/her mind up. At one point Wayne is being praised and the positive comments are generous, yet what stands out to me are the negative, scornful remarks. Not just about Drake and him running with Waynes 'template', as though Wayne is anywhere near being finished, but in general, it seems to favour the newer artists. And as much as i like Minaj and Drake, they pale in comparison to Lil Wayne.

I'm a fan forever man, and there's not a posh voice in a newspaper article that can make me think twice.

      Good effort, though.

      ...so never mind"

Sometimes on this album Lil Wayne is rapping, but mostly he’s singing, and poorly at that, his voice buried in a haze of digital effects that only highlight the lack underneath.

this part pissed me off because it is not true at all.
