I see some of y'all are still stuck on that "who ever is the most lyrical should be the best" stage...

I hope you know the most lyrical usually doesn't make the best MUSIC. If that's the case a lot of those underground smack DVD lames would be the hottest things out right now. Yes, Big L was better than a lot of rappers, but you can't gain an audience just off 'lyrics' alone. That's like saying Will Smith is a great actor, Hancock should of won an Oscar. There's waaaay more to MUSIC than just lyrics. If lyrics were all that mattered, there would be no producers, no beats, no need for hooks and radio would be filled with acappellas.

Artists like Jay-Z can push the limit... he even said that's what he's doing on his next album, experimenting and trying different things. Isn't that what Kanye did? Isn't that what Kid CuDi is doing? Drake? Wayne? Eminem? Every artist is doing there own different thing, that's what makes hip-hop, hip-hop.. the originality. You stuck on this basic "oh if rapper A and rapper B battle each other, and rapper B wins, than he's the best" logic... Remember Eminem lost in that Rap Olympics to a guy we will never hear from. Stop taking Hip-Hop so seriously like it's some f*cking Wall Street Stock Market..

Re-valuate yourself and your approach on music and life in general.

Lol, yeah, okay. I have Lil Wayne's entire discography; so all the Sqad Up's, Light's Out, 500 Degrees, all The Droughts, including the ones by The Empire, etc. Lil Wayne became a pop artist. Towards the release of Tha Carter III, Wayne became a pop artist. Kanye, to me, still isn't a pop artist. 808's and Heartbreak's wasn't a pop album. Do you even know what a lyricist is?

Nah, that's not the way I think. I recognize Lil Wayne as the best rapper alive; he's an MC, he has a distinctive flow, etc.

But rap is a form of poetry, and yes, for someone to be recognized as the greatest rap of all time, you should be able to tell a story with your words, and convey emotions. Not just talk about money, bitches, etc. You can gain an audience off of just lyrics alone, I don't know who told you, you couldn't? How do you think some of these other people got famous? Lupe? Mos Def?

If rapper A battled rapper B, then yes, lyrically, he's better than him; he has more talent that him. Modern hip-hop has people thinking that it's all swag and shit, which is why Soulja Boy is still famous, he's a good example of what you're saying. Soulja Boy would lose to everyone in a rap battle, but he's creative, has beats, catchy hooks, and experimental.

            Is he the GOAT?

What sort of requirements do you have for someone to be a lyricist? And how do you prove you're a lyricist?

I think you should be able to tell a story; most lyricists are forms of poets. They're spoken word poets, over a beat.

But being a lyricist doesn't mean you can't rap about girls, diamonds, and whatnot; but the ability to do so while conveying emotion, yk?

Even though, Kanye said it was a pop album, because of the lyrics; I consider it to be an alternative, electronic/synth album.

Wayne isn't anywhere near the best lyricist in the game right now, IMHO. Fashawn, Blu, J. Cole, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Nas, Jay Z, etc. are just a few that can hang with Wayne's wordplay while having meaning in the majority of their songs, and can tell a story with their albums and mixtapes. Wayne did that pretty well with Tha Carter II, and that's why it's far and away his best album and is so well accepted by hip hop heads. Still, it's nowhere near the level of Jay Z's Reasonable Doubt, Nas's Illmatic, and Mos Def's "Black On Both Sides", just to name a few. Kanye has "The College Dropout" that is around the same level of TCII. Personally, I believe Kanye and Wayne are around the same level right now.

Of course, that's just my opinion. Music is music. If you think otherwise of the artists I mentioned, then that's cool - people have different tastes.

On topic, I know Wayne never disses anyone anymore, but I really wish he and Jay Z would collab and drop a diss on them and finish their careers.
