Yeah he performed it on tour for probably a year before Tha Carter 3 came out. There use to be a bunch of different youtube videos of it. I saw him peform it December 2007 in Augusta.

C3 was supposed to drop in December 07..but got pushed back.
And I'm pretty sure he didn't freestyle it.. he just had it memorized.
The playing with fire verse was older too.. but I can't think of what track that was from?
