No, you're not.
FLAC, which is short for Free Lossless Audio Codec, is a codec devoloped as freeware to be the highest quality audio format available. The reason it's such good quality
(anywhere from 915 to 1024 kb/s) is because the data doesn't get compressed. It's lossless, which means it's basically an exact digital replication of the sound made when recorded. When you have a .mp3 thats 320 kb/s, it was recorded and then compressed to make an even balance of quality and size. Your average .mp3 might be anywhere from 6 to 7 megabytes, while a .flac is about 28 to 30 megabytes. If your computer has a huge bank of memory like mine, then having large files is no problem compared to excellent quality sound. However, if your memory is limited, then it's probably smarter to go with .mp3.

Jake, I'm glad you explained that. Lol.

The only disadvantage of a .flac is iTunes does not support it, so you have to play it with something like VLC.

But I'll make a .flac and convert it to 320

Yes, it will be a mp3 so it will be iTunes compatible. I could make it into a zip and a rar for those that need it.

No.

Don't use VLC, it's boring. Use Winamp; it can play anything you throw at it (if you download the right codecs) and it has an astonishing collection of skins.
