  • Weezy's chorus manipulations!

I think it takes a true artist/songwriter to come up with some of the intricate manipulations of the choruses like Wayne does in his songs (e.g. Gonorrhea, Roger That, ect.)

The only other artists I've seen able to do this are the likes of Conor Oberst and Bob Dylan (and I can provide examples of that as well, but I don't want to write too much).

Can anybody else think of Wayne songs or artists that utilize this type of lyrical genius?

Thinking about all of that shit I can't smell
Man they did me wrong I feel like Nelson Mandel
Uh, I shine too hard, my lamp fell
But my name still ringing Alexander Graham Bell
I know you met 'damn' cuz you know damn well
That I still got you open, open like a clam shell"

People who aren't fans DO NOT understand how intelligent he is! I can't wait to hear the lyrics he's been "writing" in prison: bound to be siiiickkkkkk

Sorry that's me (trying to build my post count and being lazy) not showing examples.

Compare the last chorus of Gonorrhea to the other ones, he changes the lyrics to match the old rhymes basically creating a second chorus.

"Where Roger at, I hear that Roger rat, Fuck around and never get Roger back" is the one he did for the end of Roger That.

It's just something I've noticed him doing more and more lately. I think it's really creative and difficult to do so I thought it'd be good to discuss it.

True that, he can definitely be considered Bob Dylan status with songwriting now.
Too bad most people will never pay attention enough to see that

I think its funny how most people who dont like lil wayne always quote people who have numerously said wayne was the best. everyone in the industry thinks hes a top 5 rapper. but yeah this is the only reason why i honestly listen to lil wayne. hes consistent. i have yet to see a rapper like himself. sure theres the occasional underground mc who can step it up, but i believe birdman was right, when pac died he flew into weezy.
I'm a GIANT in this bitch move the G and add an S and put the I before the N and put the A in front of that and that is what I am to the end
That's a SAINT muthafucka to simplify it for them...

it's not that they are intricate or complex, it's that he manipulated them by changing up the meanings or by changing a single word towards the end of the song. bobcat's just bringing to light this minor skill wayne has.
