Tha Carter is my second favorite album by Weezy. I don't think it's really that slept on. Besides CII I hear it get praised the most.
If you wanna talk about a slept on album then Lights Out is the subject imo.
"Armed and dangerous, rich and famous, young and restless
Guns and stretchers
Cristal and dubs for breakfast
I just got one suggestion - none should test him
'Cause cuz get hectic; send one through your sons intestines
Glocks knock lungs from chests, you get the portrait?
Bodies piled up on porches, it won't be gorgeous"
It's a strong album, I think I'd have appreciated it more if I'd got it at the time, but it's tough for me to go from hearing Carter 3 first to old school Wayne, because he's changed so much that Tha Carter isn't the Wayne I really dig. It's still strong, solid rap, but I prefer when he hits the balance between raw and mainstream, Carter 3 style. Tha Carter is too far towards raw for me, just like IANAHB is too far towards mainstream. Still 8/10 for me, and play it now and then.
edit lmfao at Tunechi Lionches avatar, shit is legendary lol

I completely agree. That's when he REALLY started to show signs of potential:
[Lil Wayne]
Whaaat
You can find me on the corner with stones, quarters and zones
or dope and powder broke, and our sale's soap and flour
And most of our customers come up to us daily
Yet and still I cut this stuff crazy - a hustler, baby
What can I give you? I distribute ki's to the kings
and z's to the fiends, and ecstasy and weed to the teens
You need to see Wheez - anything you like and I have 'em
From crack to Viagra, and Vicadins valiums
I'm the nigga they point to when you hit my av
So get all your money together, come and get my slabs
I get my cash, put some aside, and flip like half
And still enough for me to TV and deep-dish my Nav'
And you can tell the law that I say they can kiss my acid
For the white people,
when I get two bricks for ten, I know the right people
And I keep a nine on my waistline
And I'ma be right on the corner, wodie - I'm gonna grind

Yup so many great songs up there.
Realized, Biznite, Act A Ass, Shine (the original), Everything, Let's Go, Grown Man, Lil' One, Fuck Wit Me Now, Get Off The Corner, Hit U Up, On The Grind, & Jump Jiggy are the best tracks (I know I just named 3/4 of the album )
