Re: Official Tha Carter IV Discussion Thread
I feel that Carter 4 should be a balanced mix of serious songs and fun/punchline songs....half of the songs should be no-hook type songs with playful lyrics and the other half should be songs with more content...balance is the key to a good album..the only thing is if he is gonna do the entire no-hook type thing, he got to come with the same type of approach as he did with 6'7...sure its full of punchlines but some of the lines have actual substance...its not the whole 'my car so big'...'i got so much money", etc...type thing...alot of the lines are lean towards the introspective/clever side...(ex. "life is a bitch, death is her sister'.....'i speak the truth but thats a foreign message to yall')...Wayne is at his best on these songs, so I feel it should still be big part of the album. Alot of people say songs with no structure or whatever have no replayability..but I think if it is done right it does. He does it right on 6'7..however he should also explore more meaningful and substance filled songs. In the interview with Sway he said he was surprised to know people liked songs like 'I Feel Like Dying' and 'Shoot Me Down'...he said that made him realize people liked what he was saying on those songs, they liked the content... then he referenced Pac, explaining how people remembered him for what he said, and not how he said it...Wayne seems to think he lost a step flow wise and delivery wise, so he wants to make up for that with lyrics and cleverness...he said he wants to be remembered for what he said...and I think that is a major step forward, it pretty much guarantess Wayne is going to have songs on the album with content....
so I figure if Wayne does half songs with content and meaning, and half songs with clever punchlines, he will put out an impressive album...he seems to be doing more so what he wants, then what his label wants....his first single is a no-hook song with Cory Gunz, alot of times labels dont let that fly unless you are Kanye...the names he has worked for on this album are pretty interesting (Kanye, Tech N9ne, Drake, Nicki, Detail, Develop, David Banner, Cool & Dre, Kane Beatz, StreetRunner, Swizz Beatz, Boi-1da, T-Minus, Bangladesh, Infamous, Play N Skillz etc...)..I just hope the best 14-16 songs get picked and its great...
lyrically there is no way its gonna suck...a decent amount is gonna be written, and he is as focused as ever...

He also need to realise that his flow on Hulste Hard & Money In My Poket is raw as fuck, and he sould keep this and stop his high pitch flow. You can hear this on the second version of "Mr Carter" were he has a new verse, with a fuckin' high pitch voice, and that was horrible, so it was scrapped off the final cut of the song. He should realise that what he say is really important, but his voice too. Awesome lyrics with "Hustle Hard" voice = Classic, awesome lyrics with "Red Nation" voice = good. IMO
I'm also sure he will have a "Lex Luger" beat on c4 Lol cause like Nicki said he selected "hard beats" and that guy makes hard beats, and I enjoy it, cause at the moment, he has great voice and flow on these beats Lol (Huslte Hard & Money In My Poket)
