What was the point in the Carter 6 pre-save link?

I'm thinking they didn't get the amount of pre-sales they had hoped and that's why we haven't heard anything about C6 since they put out a pre-save link. Seriously..... what was the point in doing that? I know you can't rush GOATness but I would not be surprised if we go all 2023 without hearing anything more about C6.
