Dude, Tha Carter 3 wasnt ONLY about selling records. What you need to understand is waynes good business instinct( you probably do , though). Before Tha Carter 3 he dropped a mixtape, with him being him, a numerous featurings on commercial songs and pop songs and The Leak. All this for building up a solid crowd that would buy his album. Then, Lollipop sealed the deal. But the depth of the album is Waynes most personal and its his claim to greatness. Feel me?
Just listen to Love Me or Hate Me, Gossip, Shoot Me Down, Tie My Hands, 3peat Mr Carter, Im Me (samples his songs, and his accomplishments) , DontGetIt (shows that Wayne is complex, if he WANTS TO)
Nas
R. Kelly
Green Day
Chamillionaire (I know they've made some, but not the other way around..)
P!nk
Rihanna
and some other.....
-and I mean like, only those, not with a bunch of features.
R. Kelly pisses on 13 year old girls and Rihanna would just be another sweet, bubble gum radio hit compared to what Weezy really is. Pink, probobly same situation as Rihanna unless it was a Skylar Gray situation where it's more underrated.
