Re: Where do you rank Lil Wayne in the All time list?
Got to be right up there if everybody is considering him when he is only 28. Imagine where people will put him when he's 35 if he carries on his dedication to music. Will be undoubtedly seen as one of the greats, if not the best.
Im 17 just so you know lol.
But I just don't view any of the guys you listed as better than Wayne. Yeah their great and all, but were they loved by as broad of a group of people as Wayne is today? No. Again they were great rappers but IMO when you talk about the greatest rapper of all time you have to consider not only the music but the influence on the game, overall likeability, and influence on music in general.
Yes all of those guys had lots of influence on todays rappers(like Tupac to Wayne) but did Tupac CHANGE the whole rap game? IMO he didn't. I dont think we realize it but Wayne's influence on every single rappers music is clear. I was listening to Em the other day and I heard one line and thought: "Man that's a Wayne-ish type of lyric...". (Im talking about the 'Im ___ like ___' and all those type of lines).
Im probably rambling because like Wayne I just 'got in the both and started rappin' but the last thing I want to say is:
The rapper's you listed were mostly from a number of years ago. For like the 3rd time, they were VERY good but what if you put Wayne back in their time?
If you don't get what Im saying think of a sports comparison....If you put MJ or Kobe or LBJ back in 1920's basketball (before the game really advanced and people got alot stronger and bigger) they would dominate.
I think that if you did the same thing to a guy like Wayne, or Em or Jay for that matter, they would dominate the rap game. I think Wayne is so advanced now and has had so much more musical experience that he would blow away any of the legends of the game in their prime. He could easily go back to spitting like he did on C1/C2 because that would be more the style that would be going on......
Anyway's I dont feel like typing anymore....sorry if you got lost because I rambled!
Tupac has clearly and objectively bigger impact than Wayne in the game historically. And I was never a big fan of 2pac.My favorite rappers from 80's-90's were Rakim and Big Daddy Kane.
And lol@ at I was listening to Em the other day and I heard one line and thought: "Man that's a Wayne-ish type of lyric...". (Im talking about the 'Im ___ like ___' and all those type of lines).Hysterical. Do you even know who was Em at his prime? He was the Greatest artist in Music. He was bigger than Hip-Hop.He had 3 straight classic albums SSLP/MMLP/TES and you say when you heard Eminem man that's a Wayne-ish.This is ridiculous.
Eminem with MMLP change the game and started a new Era for the Hip-Hop.And he was sucessfull worldwide.
Hey as I said Eminem is the GOAT and he isn't my #1 favorite rapper(Rakim is) but one my favorites. But do you know shit about his legacy?
He is like Michael Jordan of the Hip-Hop.Love him or hate him.
I respect your opinion and if you want to pout Wayne at #1 that's ok but you have to listen other Greats before ut Weezy ahead of them. And learn about the Impact's.
Rakim is underrated as fuck but without him Hip-Hop would never be as great as it is and it was.
Re: Where do you rank Lil Wayne in the All time list?
It's hard to rank Wayne and Em, ect. against Tupac, Rakim, KRS-ONE, ect. because the rap game is so different now. But I think a Top 15 ranking for Weezy is fair, if you look at it unbiasedly. If you look at just straight skill level, bar for bar, I think Wayne drops off a bit. But looking at the whole career retrospect of individual artists, I think that's what makes Wayne so great now.
#1. Plain and simple. Im not a big Tupac, Biggie, JayZ, Em fan but I respect all their work. I think Tupac is the most overrated but he was very good. Em and JayZ are better than Tupac and Biggie. But Wayne is the greatest. No rapper has every done alot of the stuff Wayne has done and his creativity is beyond most.
The stuff he says in songs is stuff no one else would think of.
If Wayne rapped faster(like Em) or had a different more hardcore voice he wouldn't be criticized so much. Seriously he wouldn't. For example everyone always says Busta Rhymes killed Wayne on Look At Me Now but all he really did was rap SUPER fast....Wayne verse is better. What Wayne says is better and if it isn't better it is FOR SURE the most memorable.
You have some good points,I understand what you mean when you say Em is better than Tupac and Biggie was, because he is,but I don't understand what makes you think Jay-Z is better then Tupac,I think he's more overrated than Tupac was. It's true Wayne's creativity is beyond most.. about his voice,I think his voice is special he just needs to stop with the high-pitched effects like he had on 6'7.

#1. Haters can keep hating. You came on this site for one of three reasons: you are a fan of Lil Wayne, you were a fan of Lil Wayne, or you are a troll.
