I believe Anne is Stan's cousin and Wayne is writing to her saying sorry about Stan and that she's his number one fan..

He is merely stating Stan to pay homage to Eminem and also that since Stan song is soo well known, he mentions it as it uses the same concept. And doesn't want Anne, whoever she is, to end up like Stan did.

Maybe Anne is Stan's sister or something who is a lil wayne fan, that would explain why he said im sorry about Stan..

This was my 1st thought when I heard it.

But to be honest, I don't think there's an "correct" explanation. I think all of em are true. I think Wayne wants us to think of the song and kinda play with the different perspectives.

i dont think anne is related to stan, every fan that stuck by weezy and didnt give up on him is anne. he said "and im sorry about stan so i wrote this to say im your number one fan" because stan killed himself after em didnt write him back, so waynes just making sure that his fans know how much he appreciates them

I was wondering if Dear Anne, could possibly be an inderect sign that Wayne is Em's biggest or one of his biggest fans. I know it's a stretch.....but especially at the end of the song Wayne says, "And I'm sorry about Stan. So I wrote this to say I'm your number one fan"........."Stan" was Em's biggest fan until obviously he killed himself. Could Wayne be saying that He's one of Em's biggest fans? Before they started talking and working together it took a long time for them to connect, Wayne and his camp tried reaching out many times to Em to get together but Em wouldn't have it back then. Most likely because of all the things he was dealing with at the time. Just curious to see what people think? I wouldn't blame Wayne, they are both lyrical geniuses and I'm sure one can respect that and see that in another.
