Grown Man - Page 1 - Music - New York - Village Voice
Like lots of regional scenes, New Orleans hip-hop prided itself on insularity and, to a degree, stasis. Even the crossover records were rigidly committed to form.
that insularity is missing in his work now.
thats what i think made the carter two so good.
it existed in itself and by itself. and most importantly.
for itself. now all of his work is easily accessible.
and i guess that has its merit. but its ends up so watered down.
And his raps are increasingly experiments in which he chooses words and structures boasts in ways few rappers ever care to, or can.
this is way overlooked when it comes to his writing.
hes beyond textbook nice and he makes it sound so easy.
that its hard to pick up on how well put together the rhymes actually are.
nice read.
its dope when these music writers.
actually get it right with wayne.
