That doesn't make you the best rapper, because if it did that would mean Bill Gates, Gene Simmons or any internet rapper doing remixes in his basement could POSSIBLY be the best rapper alive.

These are the qualifiers in what makes a good, overall rapper

    1. Flow
    2. Lyrics
    3. Delivery
    4. Multis
    5. Quality of beats

There are rappers that are better than Wayne in all of these categories. The question of "Best Rapper Alive" is arbitrary obviously but explain to me WHY you think this.
Look man, at the end of the day it's all opinion.
You say flow is most important. I may enjoy a waynes flow/s more than eminems flow for example. doesn't mean waynes is better, it just means that i think it is better.

And people need to understand that there is a difference between the best and your favorite. Its like sport, for me Iniesta from barcelona is my favorite player, but messi is the best.

There are rappers that are better than Wayne in all of these categories. The question of "Best Rapper Alive" is arbitrary obviously but explain to me WHY you think this.

      well first off.
the way you get on a track is important.
if were referring to presence and not his features.

in his prime he would jump on beats like nobody else.
in complete control of the beat and at the same time he was loose.
he was in dominant form and knew he couldnt be touched.
its almost on some muhammad ali shit.

as far as your objective qualifications.
if youre going to put those out. you have to be just as objective in your judgement.

theres no way you listen to waynes catalog from 04-08.
and say he has now flow. his flow was untouchable at this time.
and it wasnt just one flow that he had complete mastery of, it was one for every beat.
his flow takes him into pockets of music that rappers dont even try to rap to.
he can bounce up and down. milk shit out. speed it up. whatever.
his flow was elastic and he could stretch it however he wanted.

      lyrics can be tricky.
      hes so prolific an artist.
and has so many styles that its hard.
to define him with just one lyrical style.
but chances are youre looking for that textbook lyricism.
and wayne does have that. you can go through dedication one.
dedication two and carter two. if you want all that.
and youll find plenty of flow there as well.

but as great as he was at that stuff.
its the fact that he could also throw out the unorthodox lyricism.
that makes something else. thats what you have on drought 3.
the abstract shit. the non sequiter style. the off the wall flows.
if all that shit wouldve came from a wu tang artist.
nobody wouldve questioned it and respected it.
but since its wayne. he doesnt get the credit.

      lol. but he knows it.

"only down south rapper couldvee been in the firm, or the commission, or wu tang nigga."

wayne delivery is pretty much flawless.
theres not much to say here. if you know anything about rap.
at the very least. you know wayne delivers the fuck out his rhymes.

false. multis do not make a good rapper. they make a rapper that could do multis.
in any case. wayne does have them. they just are usually more subtle than rappers that go overboard.
wayne rhymes with a purpose. its never some flashy shit to prove to someone he can rhyme.
and rappers that get stuck doing multis are usually dying to prove themselves.

but as for wayne. hes so good at rapping. that you hardly hear when he uses them.
he chooses his words so carefully. and he rhymes more off sound than off syllables.
that its hard to pick up how technical his raps actually are.
If his flow monotone youd hear a lot more of the technical work going on.
but wayne at his best could pull off both and make it sound easy.

lol. quality of beats makes a good producer. not a rapper.

but even still. waynes such a good rapper he can make shitty beats sound good.

but at the moment. he definitely needs better production.
and more creative direction or control. idk whats going in that camp.
but they arent letting him make the best music possible.

but with all of that going for him.
he dropped like seven releases in a row.
that were damn near all better than the last one.

      who has done that??

      before or after?

He was never the best rapper alive, that's stupid... there are underground rappers and even mainstream rappers that can kill him. Eminem is way above Wayne. People around here are going to start flaming you if you question Wayne's skills so it's better not to do it.

lol. everyone gives all this credit.
            to these underground rappers.
(that these oh so knowledgeable fans always fail to name)
without considering that wayne wouldnt be a mainstream artist.
if it wasnt for his early cash money days.

start his career wherever you like.
the sqad up tapes or the prefix.
and you have a predominately an underground artist.
that really only became mainstream in 08.

or even imagine if all those tapes.
came out right now. would anyone be better?

When do people learn that music is subjective
and if you think he is the best then he is the best to you

Artist have a different appeal to different people

Mode I agree with almost everything you said apart from Wayne using multi's. He rarely uses them(these days anyway) and saying when he does they're just more subtle is just not true because he just doesn't use them often enough and when he doesthey're just really bad and simple.

Multi's definitely make a better rapper, that takes skill to use a good multi, make it all ryhme and for it to still make sense and get the message across it was ment to.

If a rapper doesn't use multi's it doesn't make them bad, it just means they either can't or they can't pull it off in terms of delivering it or with flow.

lool. they definitely dont come around these days.
that flow hes been using isnt really made for it.

but i do think he really does make use of multisyllabic rhyming.
it just doesnt come the way eminems does or an elzhi or whoever else.

where theres comes in pairs through the bar and in the extension of the bar.
wayne kind of places his like rungs to move to the next rhyme. and a lot of the time.
if not most of the time. its not a perfect rhyme. but hell take the sound of whatever multi syllable hes using.
and rhyme it with something that might be short. in that and his placement. is where you get the subtlety.

                    back door back room.
                    young nigga still switching.
                    young nigga still pitching.
                    naked bitches in the kitchen.
                    wishing that i kiss them.
                    but i just missed them.
                    get my money.
                    than i dismiss them.
                    little marley still set tripping.
he say he got a bigger pistol now.
                    he say he aint missin.
                    you cant miss him.
hes the skinny fellow with the dreads.
high yellow red. thats always my blood.
                    so we forever bled.

every word is there is for a reason. even letters.

switching. pitching. naked bitches in the kitchen
wishing. kissed them. just missed them. my money. dismiss them.
little marley. still set trippin. bigger pistol. missing. cant miss him.
                    skinny fellow dreads yellow red.

obviously the itch carries the rhyme.
but that naked makes the rhyme by throwing that k.
that carries over to kitchen. and its followed by bitches.
so thats internal rhyming and it multisyllabic.

from there he goes to rhyming S and M.
people think he doesnt use alliteration. but he does.
its just in a really clever way thats driven by sound.

wishing. kiss themmm. mmmised them. my money. dismiss. little mmmarley ssstill.
set trippin. bigger pistol. that pis- is there to rhyme with missin.

then he goes into genius placement(as if all this wasnt all ready retarded)

skinny fellow with the dreads high yellow red.

thats three syllables that he rhymed.
but the spacing and the placement makes it sound so smooth.
and the construction of the line is something else. lool. really one of waynes finer lines.

then he goes on to say.

there is no brinks. no alarm.
just guns weed triggers and bitches.
the thicker the bitch is the bigger the brick is.

which is a little more textbook. but still ill.

but yeah. this is definitely an olddd example.

carter two era. when he was rapping his ass off.
but i dont think wayne gets the credit as a writer that he probably deserves.
considering that his entire body of work is based on lyrics.

lool. i nerd so hard over this shit. smh.

Re: Can someone answer a simple question for me?

People that say he is the best rapper alive are either living in the past or just get over excited because he is their favourite rapper. He is my favourite rapper and the best to me but I know he is not the best at this moment in time. Go back a while and you can tick boxes for the following:

                      1. Flow
                      2. Lyrics
                      3. Delivery
                      4. Multis
                      5. Quality of beats

He had all these! And not even just had them he owned them things lol! He was a complete beast, some people say he has fallen off, some say he just isn't hungry for it anymore because he has reached success and before he wanted to be known as 'The best rapper alive'. And he has the potential to be all of these again, he did it once, it's all there and it's inside him as we know from his latest features that he has been killing. We just have to wait for him to unleash upon us once again.

So why I think he is the best, simple because he is my favourite. Although bare in mind I know he isn't the best in the game right now. He is my favourite because of his past, present and probably his future. He is one of the most iconic rappers to date, and has dominated the game as you said look at his success and every person wanting him to feature on his track, he has done almost 60 features this year a lot of which have been in the Top 100 charts. Flow, lyrics, delivery yeah he may not be the best for these things at the moment but he was... And thats why people still say it. Maybe because if he was still the beast years back and had the 5 things you mentioned now and compared it to those other rappers he would still be the best? I dunno I'm done typing anyway. later.

this so true, the carter 2 was his lyrical peak,. He was still spitting on the ORIGINAL carter 3 but then that leaked and he put out the RETAIL carter 3 which wasn't as lyrical.

I just want him to be at the bare minumum no ceilings. Which isnt as lyical as carter 2, but still lyrical none the less. On that meek mill imma boss remix he had the fourth best verse...FOURTH, T.I, Ross and meek mill all had stronger verses. His verse on drake HYFR gives me hope, but he structured it off drake's verse.
