... I don't really know. I mean, if Wayne's not really listening to what other rappers are putting out then... how would he pick beats for his mixtapes? If you recall, Wayne has put out 2 mixtapes post-C3.
I think that Wayne is just lying about not having listened to other rappers. Just so people won't annoy him when he makes songs that are similar to them.

think about the difference in beats tho.

before that he was jumping on beats from anywhere.

so it worked out. but creatively its not up to par with his previous shit.

You got a point. Still, it's understandable. Before C3, he was just a rapper. When C3 dropped, he was head of his own label. He got busier than before. The time he used to spend listening to other artists is limited. The radio is pretty much the only choice for some beat selection.

For music, he had a little transistor radio, also from the commissary. He listened to mostly oldies - Anita Baker, Prince - except for Fridays and Saturdays, when the Djs on the hip-hop stations could spin whatever they wanted

Imagine if wayne listened to such as Jedi Mind Tricks. We all know Wayne still got the ability to write meaningful lyrics about war and stuff eventho he usually dont do it, so who knows how inspired he would be..
