his entire career. this is about as standard basic procedure as you can get.
straight simpleton rap. a verse x hook x verse x hook x verse.
on the same subject never means its a good song.

and you want him on one subject for what you think makes a good rap song?

take that basic shit somewhere else.

as far as writing goes, it isnt really necessary.
he only needs to be critical and spend more time on his verses.
he can do both without having to write. plus. one of the waynes best attributes.
is how his rhymes flow(or used to be) a lot of times when rappers write.
their bars are too measured. theres not a lot of life in rhymes like that.
even if you are saying sick shit its so boxed in a rhyme scheme that it can become boring.

THIS. It's very hard to convince to many hip-hop listeners (especially underground listeners who listen to Immortal Tech, Lowkey, JMT) that Wayne has good lyrics. We all thought he was going back to his old ways with with C4, and many of us were highly dissapointed (including me) with the final outcome.

The problem happened when he became a household name (mostly from Lollipop), he became known for those types of songs. Look at the type of songs that became radio singles from Lollipop to current (excluding HTL). That's because most people know him from only those songs in which the money, cars, clothes are talked about. If he was more known for songs like Hustler Musik, Everything, and Young'n Blues, he'd probably have more respect in the underground and old school world. Most of those guys just view him as mainstream trash.

i think wayne would be more respected as a lyricist.
if he wouldve started his career at the prefix.

but hes identified with the bling era of hiphop.
thats was supposed to be the downfall of good hiphop.
and all that bullshit. so he has that stigma attached to him.

theres nooooooo doubt.
wayne is getting his due respect.

and daddison waynes having a classic career trumps him not having a classic album.
though i consider carter two to be a classic. and nowadays classic mixtapes mean just as much.
and a big reason why is because of what wayne did in the mixtape circuit.

so that means dedication 2. drought 3. for sure count towards his classic total.
and any other mixtape that we can consider classic.
the difference between mixtape and album doesnt matter anymore.

wayne made the mixtape a legitimate artistic output.

that weight counts.

Um....what? If there is any song that I'm almost 100% sure he didn't write it is that one; there are like 10 unique lines. Anyone could come up with that song in their mind.
