I understand what he mean't by it, but he didn't actually 'invent' it lol. It's just a stupid way of phrasing it, he could of said he made it the trend/popular or whatever, but he didn't invent it. Just makes him look arrogant and like a said a bit of a dumbass. Mixtapes were around for lonngggg before him.

My understanding of mixtapes before him was DJ's putting down beats and artists rappin. Unsigned artists making mixtapes as a way of getting their voice out there? Look I ain't the most knowledgable on the subject, and you know a lot more about the hip hop world than me and I ain't disputing what he has achieved, but I just think it was a dumbass thing to say lol. I don't believe he started the whole DJ thing, he might of given it that push for already known artists to be doing mixtapes but yeah just my thoughts on the matter. Don't like him much anyways so I'm prob being biased as well...

No one used DJ for mixtapes before 50 they only used the name to get promotion.

The reason I made this thread was to spark debate.. I would have liked more btw..

Dumbass move from Wayne about inventing it as well, more so than 50 cos he was later to it much later... But don't mix up the FUCK DJs comment, he explained all that shit half in that clip and also on the address comments with Drama on C3. It's to 'this empire nigga' leaking shit and all these other dudes putting out mixtapes on him, thats who he was saying fuck the DJs to. The ones that use someone else name to try get a name for themselves rather than doing it proper like Drama and others.
