  • Why are some songs not radio hits?

Many of Lil Wayne's best songs aren't heard on the radio. It's a crying shame.

Take Up, Up, and Away, and Megaman, for example. Those would have been awesome on the radio.

    Whose filtering this?

        Up, Up, and Away
        Megaman

The list goes on and on.

He was saying take Up, Up, And Away for example. Not Take Up, but like "For example, Up, Up, And Away". I hope you understand what I just typed lol
"Armed and dangerous, rich and famous, young and restless
          Guns and stretchers
          Cristal and dubs for breakfast
I just got one suggestion - none should test him
'Cause cuz get hectic; send one through your sons intestines
Glocks knock lungs from chests, you get the portrait?
Bodies piled up on porches, it won't be gorgeous"

this happens with alot of artists, and it is because the songs aren't pushed and properly promoted.

Sending a song to the radio costs money, lots of money.
Radio can only play a certain amount of songs at the same time.
They don't want to feature to many songs headlined by the same artist.

So the label selects some 'singles' which they will put money behind, create a clean version/shoot a video and promote.

After 2-3 songs, the album's budget is usually done and there is no more to gain financially by pushing new singles.

Also, the label selects songs which they think both the audience and radio will prefer.
That's why Mirror is chosen as a single instead of a song like 'up up and away or i like the view'.
The song features bruno mars, which makes it easier to push radio's into playing it.
Also, it might be cheaper to push a song that radio's want to play

                  This.

The kind of songs you're talking about are way to explicit for the radio and would ruin the replay value

Do you not hear shit on the radio? Shits explicit as fuck, just censored. Explicit content doesn't matter, it's the appeal to the general public.

Radio is full of shit. It's based on appeal/popularity.

2 Chainz isn't anything special, but he's everywhere cuz of his fame/appeal to general listeners.
