C3 Leaks (The Drought Is Over) Effect on Wayne's career. Positive or Negative?

Do you think the leaks had more of a positive or more of a negative effect on Wayne's career.


Some might say, the leaks were the reason Tha Carter 3 was so succesful, while others may say they were the reasons that he "fell off", with songs like Lollipop being on the retail album, making him reach mainstream almost overnight "Selling Out", and not putting the kind of music from his sessions as much anymore.

For me, I definatly say it had a negative effect.

Although I thought C3 was actually pretty good, the original songs would have been a better album by a longshot.

And I'm sure if C3 never leaked, we would have never gotten C3 classics like 3 peat.

I think Wayne would maybe have had another 2-3 years of Weezy than Tunechi.

Who knows, maybe Hip Hop in general would have been different if he had stayed the same.... Who knows.


Wayne completely dominated 2007 as we know it.

I think him dropping the cup and probation made him realize that music isn't everything, thus he began skating. So skating replaced the cup I guess.

He was heavy on syrup until he claimed he quit in May 2009. NC was in October. I'm sure he still sipped slowly till then. But I could be wrong.

Well in the vids Scoob made of him recording he said he was off it.
And he didn't seem that drugged out as before.

Extremely negative. I had hopes for him, he was the MC that got me into hip hop. I was pissed for months when I heard EVERYONE singing Lollipop and it being played on the radio endlessly. If C3 wasn't leaked, Wayne would have less "OMG WAYNE DA BEST RAPPER EVER! YEUH NIGGUH!" fans and more "Wayne is a talented MC in the game, one of the greatest" fans. And he would have less people calling things like S4TW, C3, D4 or C4 great when in reality, they're mediocre. His "fans" wouldn't eat up everything he puts out.

It's sad what he turned into...2007 was just an insane year for Wayne....on the contrary I really enjoyed Wayne in 2009...he released a lot of good shit that year...

but so much talent was completely overlooked let alone leaked onto the internet....if he honestly died in 07 with the original Carter III release...he could have possibly been the greatest rapper to ever grace the earth...
