It's obvious Mos Def is more musical. I can't say for sure who is more musical because Wayne has his creative moments (such as with Rebirth). Lil Wayne has the better work ethic and has more albums, songs, mixtapes, etc. in his catalog to choose from. I think the Black Star album is a little overrated, still good though. I like his other stuff better. It's a damn shame he wasn't on Cruel Summer. He easily takes a shit on 2 Chainz, Big Sean, etc.

Relating back to the work ethic stuff, I hate how Mos Def said that he was starting a series called "Top 40 Underdog", which would be him freestyling over other artist's hits. He only released two remixes over "John" and "Niggas In Paris".

the reason why they say hes so good because he has originality. substance. flow. word play, and hes inspiring. lil wayne did have all of those things, but they are gone now.

yall dont like mos def because hes not using auto tune, or squeeling his voice in stupid ways, or not repeating 4 words in the chorus 10 times in a row. not to mention, the beats arent dirty southern trap style beats. thats the biggest hurdle.

i used to be HUGELY into underground rap. but i listen to mainstream rap because i like the beats, and the style (i dont use "swagger'). however, after listening to both a large amount..underground rappers would absolutely tear apart any mainstream rapper besides jay z, nas, and eminem, in originality, and quality.
