I don't understand the love for this song. Lyrics are really dope, I agree, but the flow was awful. I don't think it will be working as a single.

Maybe I need to hear it more often, but it doesn't work for me right now.

Good shit on that bruh. The "I saw a butterfly in hell today" seems more deep tho. I think that he's saying something so innocent and pure on the outside ended up in hell because you end up in hell based on how you are on the inside and not the outside. Dope line that sounded basic at first 2bh.

Ya man, it's so dope because it can be interpreted totally different for different people.

What did you guys interpret from these lines ?

Been eating my girl and she’s so sweet, got cavities
Granted we do it for vanity not humanity
But what’s appealing to me is under banana trees, love

I connected line 2 with 1, as he is doing it for vanity not humanity
But rapgenius are saying that he is talking about music instead..

And what does 3rd line even mean .. ? I get the peal/peel punchline but what else?

I kind of agree with Rapgenius on this one tbh. It was deep.

Under banana trees you would find PEELS, of eaten bananas. Wayne finds the fact artists make music for the vanity apPEALling. Huge wordplay with peels. The “love” maybe relates to the reason he makes music, for the true love of the art.

Line 1: Self-explanatory, he eats her out and she's sweet. You get cavities from sweets.

Line 2: Vanity is the extreme pride of your achievements basically, he's either connecting this with line 1 by saying he has pride of how good he eats her out, and he says he does this because of how great he feels about that and not for the sake of humanity. OR how they explain on rap genius.

Line 3: This could be anything. I like what they explained it, but if you connect this with No Lie off D4, it could also be a slight drug reference. Yellow Xanax was referred as slipping on banana peel in D4, you may find peels under the tree. But yeah I like theirs best.

Edit: i just thought of another explanation lol. Maybe since there's grass under banana trees he's saying he does it for the money? Grass = green, money is green so idk.

                        I'm some philosophical nigga today
