Mostly people who only listen to radio(most teenagers) think he started in 2008 cause that's when Lollipop came out

No, those are the "real hip hop" fans. People who only listen to radio usually like Lil Wayne's songs, but they only know a couple songs

a part of me wonders if wayne has been less respected, because hes been less willing to assimilate.

hes never tried to fit the corporate image the way jay has.

hes never played to pop culture the way kanye has.

he isnt as vanilla as drake.

wayne has always defiantly been himself, and frankly, that probably means, more black than people are comfortable w,

hes black, hes dreaded, hes tatted, hes unabashedly hood even in the mainstream.

ppl have their own ideas of what black success is supposed to look like, wayne doesnt really fit that image.

and even when he does, more "acceptable" shit, like skateboarding,

skateboarding culture itself, is counterculture, alternative way of life, vs what the average american male is doing.

                    Hm.
