Lol the only reason Wayne isn't as good as he once was is because he's Wayne.

That's it. Meaning, he changes so much, but not enough. We know what to expect. We know his "gimmick." He pretty much ushered in the punchline rap of today. That's what got him the most praise. Not his ability to just spit real shit. No. Niggaz took to that, you damn right, but the mainstream knew him for his punchlines, and that's what he's focused on since he blew up(now everybody goin back to his old shit like this the wayne we miss). So we know to expect them now. They don't necessarily take us by surprise. He had some terrible punchlines back in the day, but no one really talked about those because he was fresh af. But now, 4 or 5 years later, even if his shit is good as hell niggaz overlook it kuz it's Wayne.

I noticed his all punchline style on No Ceilings, and maybe that's why I didn't really like it when I first heard it and still don't believe it's the greatest shit ever, but I've adapted to it and can now appreciate his style today. It may also be why I like Rebirth, because he used rock beats as an excuse to go back to a style with more substance, but all everyone else took from it was "rock beats and autotune screaming." And I'm not saying that he doesn't have verses that are dope af today. Jus his majority are all punchlines and people like to be say they're corny no matter how good they are. Though to be fair... There was a period of time they were mostly lazy along with his flow.
