Tbh carter 3 was prob the only time he was good in the mainstream Outside of Go Dj I don’t think Wayne’s mainstream music was never that good. Carter 3 probably a stroke of genius and maybe a little luck with the production, and we are young money lol. But outside of that, Wayne really doesn’t have any good mainstream music outside of his features. That’s where he made his name. Which is why the majority of people are confused when they say Wayne is one of the best rappers ever.
I been tryna say, Wayne is not a hit maker. He’s a rapper. His best songs are soul songs that would never make the radio. His love songs honestly which get a lot of flack but there his strong suit. Receipt, comfortable, harden, shine etc. He got lucky on the carter 3 with insanely good beats and Bobby v blessed tht bih. Lollipop which came out of right field, and a milli which is just an insane beat and him doing what he does best. Rapping. Then 6ft 7ft cape which is just banger beat and rapping and some more incredible production and artistic genius during we are young money.
Granted he makes great hooks when wants and fire verses, his mainstream music is not his best

C3 is catchy af. The hooks and the beats is definitely what drew the general public's attention to the album. And it's not like wayne can't make good mainstream music, it's just the definition of mainstream music has changed in the 2010s. Fireman, Go DJ, Bring it Back etc were all big hits when they came out. And also it helped that back then actual RAPPING was honoured more lol (imo), so even the songs you mentioned were known about (if not big hits)
CV has such awesome lyrics but because alot of it is introspective is not catchy to nowadays standards (cuz imo demon, start this shit of right, dedicate etc are bangers), it didn't reach the public outside of the hip hop/rap community

This winds me up when everyones thinks Tunechi's best music is his mainstream singles. They haven't even heard of the leaks
That's why this Forum is so important to those of us who haven't known about all this or didn't quite know where to get it. Or ran into so many fake albums on the Internet that they just gave up.
